4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sparky (2128) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - OCT 31, 2009
Bomber courtesy of LilBeerDoctor. Pours deep black with a half finger brown head that results in nice lacing. The nose is roast, burnt malt, dark fruit and coffee. The taste is ashy cocoa, charred caramel, burnt malt and black coffee with some hops in the finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Good stout. Thanks Margaret!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mds (2115) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 22, 2006
Bottle. Pours a dark black body with a mocha head. Cocoa aroma, chalky, and some distant hops. The flavour is nicely done - toasted dark malts, chocolate. Well balanced but nothing sticks out particularly well. It’s good but not necessarily special.

22 oz bomber via Ken. Pours a pitch black color with an enormous creamy thick brownish beige head. Aroma is malty with strong roasted coffee bean saturation. Taste is much like the scent-roasted coffee beans, malt and a smidgen of charcoal smoke. Kind of watery. Leaves a nice coffee aftertaste.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 MIBRomeo (2105) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 28, 2006
05-06 vintage
Pours a pure black color w/ a thick brown small bubbled head w/ some thick lacing. Smells farily mild a dark roast malt w/ hints of coffee & smoke a bit light. Palate is very light, not very viscous. Flavor is lightly smoky and coffee dry roast malt, too light.
Possibly starting to show infection as the beer was much smaller in palate than it should have been.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jake65 (2095) - Williston, North Dakota, USA - JUN 5, 2007
Bottle: Pours an immensely dark brown with a large brown head. Thick lacing. Nose is strong of coffee, heavy roast, and chocolate. Hints of bitters. Taste rich of heavy roast, cocoa, coffee, and finishes dry with a lingering coffee/bitters kick. Good, but a little drier than I prefer in a stout takes a bit off the overall rating. Still very good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 NachlamSie (2077) - Tennessee, USA - AUG 11, 2008
Bomber. Pours black with just slight ruby glints in the light. The head is sparse and spotty, though really nice lacing is left on the goblet after a swirl. I get baking chocolate, nutshells, hickory smoke, and coffee in the aroma. It seems to be bittersweet and borderline tannic. Yeah, this is rather bitter in the flavor and dry all the way to the finish, though it is clean. The bitterness comes across with lots of wooden flavors and suggestions of cacao and espresso. Very little sweetness is present. . .maybe some licorice in the finish. This is one dry stout and remarkably balanced and drinkable at that. Pretty well put together, if I do say so myself.

Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe Hopfest ’06. Opaque black with a light tan head. Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. Full, oily body. The taste starts lightly sweet with coffee, chocolate, burnt toast, roasted nuts, but cleans up on the bitter and slighty smokey finish.

Black with short lived tan head. Nose has a lot of roast with some sugary fruit, alcohol, slight hop and vanilla. Flavor is quite roasty and rather bitter, but it’s balanced by chocolate and fresh hop in the long finish. Nice beer, well rounded. and quite effective.
