COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Bottled. Beer is opaque, dark brown wih a small, light brown, frothy, diminishing, mostly lasting head. Aroma is very roasty. Malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of roasted grain, chocolate, coffee and molasses; Hoppy with a moderate note of resin; Yeasty with a trace-to-light note of dusty basement. Miscellaneous light woody note, trace of dried currents/raisin. The flavor is heavily sweet, moderately bitter with a long, lightly bittersweet, trace acidic finish. Nice palate: The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. Seems more like an Imperial Stout than a standard Stout. Nice richness.

Bottle from Batkins, thanks again Bill. Pours a deep dark brown-black with layer of rich tan foamy head. Roasty toasty malts with flavors of bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans.A very nice brew indeed but just felt thin and a bit watery.

On tap at Beveridge Place Pub. First time I’ve tried this, and I was told it’s a "new recipe". Sweet with nice roasted malts. Little carbonation and no head. Better than anything I’ve had from Pike. Tasty. Good hops.

opaque black with some tan bubbles around the rim. full body with medium-high carbonation, and not creamy or clingy.

aroma: silage, mushroom soy sauce, some roasted malts, and a hint of charcoal.

taste: charcoal, roasted malts, roasted barley, some sourness and herbal hops. very little chocolate or coffee. truly a foreign extra stout or "imperial" dry irish stout.

one of the best dry style stouts i’ve had @ 1200 ratings.

650 ml bottle at Garrison Ale House. Opaque dark brown colour with a fully diminishing frothy tan head. Fruity, vinous, coffee and light chocolate aroma. Big roasty coffee, chocolate, and vinous fruit flavours with a bittersweet vinous, fruity, and lightly roasty finish. Full bodied, creamy, rich, and smooth mouthfeel. Tasty stout.

Bottle - Limited Release 2005-2006: This is a stout worthy of props. It is a thick black color and the head resembles dirty motor oil bubbles. Cool! The head is also fluffy and the lacing is clingy, like a cheap suit. The aromas fill up the nasal cavities with burnt malts, coffee and dark chocolate. The flavors are equally tasty: chipotle like roasted flavors with a strong espresso presence like Pike’s neighbor, Starbuck’s. What I liked about this stout is that it wasn’t too sweet - it had a semi-bitter aftertaste. The feel is comforting as the thick & creamy liquid ricochets off the inner cheeks and down the throat. This one is definitely in my top five for stouts. Yummalicious!
