COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

22oz. Bottle (at 7%ABV): Aroma of chocolate, slight roasted malts, and a hint of cream. Poured pitch black in color with a small, rocky, dense, solid brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Average lacing. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tasted of chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malts, slight piney hops, and a slight hint of vanilla. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted, chocolate, coffee finish is lightly dry.

2001-2002 Bottle: Nearly back with a medium and slightly foamy dark beige head. Thin lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and a hint of malt. A little richer than most Dry Stouts, I like what they are going for with a blend of Dry and Imperial Stout in the body. Coffee flavor really comes through in the flavor, along with some dark chocolate and roasted malt. The finish is dry and has a lightly hopped character. This might not be worth all the X's but it is still a good Stout.

Bottle. Crude oil black with a bit brown froth. Licorice and chocolate notes. Quite creamy mouthfeel, full-bodied, leaves with a oilslick on the tongue - in a good way. Satisfying aftertaste.

Vinous grapes and cocoa in the aroma. Opaque dark brown with ow brown-tan head that lasts nicely and leaves some sudsy lacing. Roasted malts are overwhelming with very little residual sweetness of a powdery cocoa-like nature. Medium body is fairly dry and well-attenuated. Bottle sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

2002 Vintage: Poured a very very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma had a big chocolate presence. Nice amount of rasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt with some sweetness and more chocolate. Finish is semi-dry and leaves you with a big roasty finish. Held up very nicely for an 3+ year old stout. Tasty. I need to find out if they start out this good..or even better.

Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe Hopfest ’06. Always a pleasure. Absolutely solid black--a real shut up and drink me if you dare beer. Lovely creamy off-white head. Big coffee and chocolate nose. Sweet, chalky, chocolate body--smooth and rich but not overbearingly thick. Filling. Long sour bitter finish, but not by any means excessively so. The GF says "a little half and half in there would be good." I guess you don’t have to love stout to pick up on the coffee flavor notes. I’ve loved this beer for ages.
