Ughsmash (2874), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 11, 2008 Bomber. Poured healthy deeper brown with a creamy cap of short tan head. The aroma was just what I needed.. deep coffee, anise, and caramel maltage with a sweet uptake on the back that carried fresh pine.. light smoke accent.. just a wonderful blend of components. The flavor picked up sweeter, deeply-roasted coffee at the core surrounded by dry, smoky pine needle bitterness.. the hops and coffee bitterness made a stronger impression toward and through the finish.. tasty and well-balanced. Dry and medium-bodied with rising bitterness as the drink progressed.. a little too sharp toward the back.. all in all quite excellent!
fiulijn (5854), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Aug 7, 2008 65 IBU, 1073 OG The color is absolute black, with a brownish creamy head on medium size. It has a mild aroma of bread and roasted malt. The body has a good strength, quite round mouthfeel, with a good flavor of roasted malt and dark caramel, the bitterness is a crescendo till the end, very nice; there is a trace of liquorice; long final. Very good, almost Imperial. sk8viking (6070), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 Bottle. A black beer with a big brown head. The aroma and taste is of roasted malt/coffee, light smoked.
