12 oz bottle, 05-06 vintage, via acertain. Pours a thick black, almost motor oil in color. Small but attractive chocolate brown head that faded to a thin ring quickly. Aroma is burnt, roasted, and chocolate malts, raisons, coffee, a touch of alcohol, and a dry yeast character. Flavor is burnt malt, coffee, and chocolate. Finish is very dry with a little astringency and bitterness. Very good length to the finish. Full bodied with an oily texture up front fading to a drying finish. Minimal fine bubbled carbonation. A pretty awesome beer, very near the top of the heap for regular stouts.

Pours an opaque black with a couple fingers of slow dying chocolate milk head that laces sheets as it dissapears. Smells of coffee grinds, dark chocolate and licorice. Taste is the same as the smell. Finishes with a bitter hop bite. Medium in the mouth with a nice tickle of carbonation. Drinks like a champ but is a treat not a session. Well done.

Sweet dark cocoa aroma. Black in color with a thick caramel head. Bittersweet cocoa flavor with some dried fruit and espresso notes. Overall, really awesome and tasty. Plus, for the price I paid, it was a value to boot!

22oz bottle from blutt59, thanks Bob! Pours a black body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big and rich, dark chocolates with plenty of roasts and piney hops. Some caramel, a light coffee, a few dark fruits and prunes, citrus, and a light charred wood. Flavor is similar. Lots of roasts up front with a good amount of piney hops behind them. Plenty of dark chocolates and char with some thin caramels, coffee, and a light wood. Pines give off a slight citrus and there is a hint of dark fruit before this finishes very dry with lots of roasts, char, and a light, but distinct piney hop. Light-medium bitterness before leaving a very lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin, very smooth body and soft, creamy yet somewhat lively, medium-light carbonation. Overall, an excellent stout. Tons of bold roasts and char with a nice piney hop. Lots of dark chocolates offer just a light sweetness, but balance nicely and give this a thinner feeling body that I feel works really well. This is definitely my kind of stout!
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beardface (1480) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - DEC 11, 2008
Black pour with a bit of a dark red tinge to it and a small to medium tan head. Sugar and toffee in the smell, very thick and inviting. Heavy malt in the flavor with some caramel and toffee taste and some chocolate and coffee lingering in there as well. A very nice chewy mouthfeel that lingers on the tongue. A slight bitter finish, similar to but far more mild than a dry stout. Extremely tasty, hope to visit their pub the next time I am in Seattle.

Bomber. Pitch black with an inch of pillowy chocolate malt head. Lots of roasted malt, coffee and bittersweet chocolate fragrances in the aroma. The flavor starts with smoky roasted malt and espresso along with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and herbal hops in the background. The mouthfeel is creamy and moderately carbonated with a dry, smoky finish. It’s got all the characteristics you’d expect from a quality Stout and packs quite a bit of flavor for 7% ABV.

Nearly black with a tiny brown head that laces beautifully. Aroma of chocolate, soy sauce, roasted malt, and a little bit too much wood. Flavor is full, roasted and chocolate malty, with a little wood flavor coming through. Body is full and smooth and a little dry. The smell isn’t the greatest, but overall, this is a nice beer.
