COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Shiny ebony colour. The aroma is richly roasty with light fruitiness and hints of citrusy hop, toast. Smooth as hell, with gorgeous Belgian chocolate notes, cream, vanilla sugar, Yunnan coffee. Most of the bitterness is roast it seems. Great foreign style

sweet oaty aroma, looks pretty stouty, solid body, dry and hoppy, then choclate covered coffee bean with a bitter finish

Draft at the brewpub. Sweet, roasty aroma, plenty of dark cocoa and brown sugar to go with light touches of flowery hop and espresso. Very nice. Thoroughly opaque black color with a lasting tan head. Flavor is full of roast and cocoa as well, bittersweet, with a good dosage of fresh, leafy hop flavor, not much in the way of bitterness, though, as the bittering balance in the equation seems to belong solely to the dark, coffeeish, grainy malts. Good blend. Piney, very lightly fruity hoppiness, malts are very darkly roasted and sweet, working well in conjunction. Very full-flavored, makes for an appropriate dessert beer or digestif. Creamy mouthfeel, smooth and full. Nearing Imperial caliber. This is just a great stout, and I need more of it.

Poured from big bottle. Excellent aroma dominated by dry cocoa, with a hint of coffee. Stout black, hardly any head. I taste cocoa, molasses, licorice, coffee, smoke , hops. Seems in between dry and sweet. Good finish. A very enjoyable stout.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2004 Very Black, with a thin brown head. Aroma of coffee and burnt toast. Intense coffee flavors, with a hint of chocolate, but the palate is the real attention getter. This is rich and smooth, with a mellow hop bite. Very drinkable, especially for a beer this rich.

lots of bitter chocolate - almost burnt flavor. little coffee. pitch black. little bit of hoppiness. pretty good - but doesn’t have the complexity of say stone’s imperial.

Draught sample. Great toasted grain aroma. Molasses and caramel. Coffee and hit of chocolate, with light fruity hops. Dark black clear with tan head. Heavy bodied with medium carbonation. Thick and rich with coffee and chocolate bitter tang. Light smoke. Sweet toasty grains with deep bitter finish and creamy smoky after. Nice stout.

Great stout here. Lots and lots of roasted and coffee flavors. If you are ever at the bar I recommend the ’Stout Float.’ Easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted.
