MBison (356), Southern Highlands, Australia Jun 15, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Poured golden yellow with a small rocky, white head which was fully diminishing. Aroma was overly sweet with honey, cornish malts, wet paper and some diacetyl to top it off. Flavor was thin and ultra crisp with no bitterness to report, just some faint notes of grainy malts and some honey. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation, a watery texture and a non-existent finish. gam (515), brisbane, Australia Jan 6, 2008 Nice gold pour medium head, aroma fruity and hoppy, taste like some of the German lagers, earthy or mushroom and stonefruit flavour, nice bitter at the end with a dryness, not bad. strings (324), Sydney, Australia Nov 21, 2006 Bottle. Not too bad. Very crisp and refreshing on a languid summer’s evening. Fruity with a bit of bite. Can’t help being turned off a bit though by the lingering presence of something not entirely dissimilar to west coast cooler. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia May 16, 2006 This current incarnation is contract brewed by Australian Independent Brewers, so I’m guessing it’s a shadow of it’s former self. The aroma is probably the best this beer gets (but that’s not saying much), with some spicy honey and a touch of lemon, and also a bit of yeast that reminded me of the Unibroue range for some reason. However, the flavour is a bit rough with some adjuncty sweetness and metallic hop bitterness. With an over-carbonated and weak-bodied palate, this was probably best left in the annals of history if this was the best they could do. Stew41 (860), Caulfield, Australia Nov 28, 2005 It’s a been a couple of years between drinks on this one. Macro look; medium gold amber and poor head. Interesting nose, honey, spice, sweet malts – nice. Palate is lighter than the bouquet suggests but has a nice refreshing cut of fizz and hops. Finishes clean and bitter. Needs a chill to show its best.
