Glossy & silky with depth and balance there’s much well polished structure here to support its gentle roasty qualities. Luxury and class in a glass. Yet another hit from Pilot.

Cask at Guildford Arms. It pours darkest brown with a decent light tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee, dark chocolate, creaminess, rubber tire and earth. The taste is bitter, roasty, dark cocoa, creamy, milk chocolate, coffee, toast, mild astringency with a lingering roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Well executed and rather tasty.

Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and dry. Mild fine carbonation. Mild dry dark malts, touch of roast. Dry and bitter dark chocolate. Mild tangy dark fruits, little malt cream. Mellow coffee. Some orangey citrus before a dry finish. Plenty going on here but a tad dry.

Cask at the Darlington Beer Festival. Pours black with a little tan froth. Wow - there’s a lot of flavour in this. Huge coffee flavours with a lot of sweetness. The coffe rather overpowers the beer notes and it’s a little cloying overall, but still an interesting beer.

Cask at The Vintage (Leith). Pours very dark brown with a nice tan head. Leaves beautiful laces. Nose has coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is similar, very much like drinking a proper moccachino. Nice bitterness hitting at the end after the sweet chocolate milk coffee. Very velvety and creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. Very nice.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2014 Cask from Noble’s and The Pantry. Dark brown body with a tight tan head than holds well. Excellent lacing. Aroma of espresso and chocolate. Flavour of coffee, sweet milk chocolate, plum and a hint of vanilla. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Very rich and packed full of flavour - not sure if I could drink more than one in a sitting though.

Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours deep dark brown, near black. Nice tan head. Aromas of coffee and light sweet notes, milk chocolate. Taste is a lot more fresh coffee, sweety finish. Very nice.

Cask conditioned at Leicester Beer Festival ’14. Dark brown with cream head. Initially there is a bitter coffee note, quite rich on the palate. Then a lingering sweetness comes through with a blackberry fruitiness. Perhaps a touch heavy on the palate but still decent.
