Bottle from a March 2004 trip to Costa Rica. One shade of yellow short of clear. An almost painful flavor with minimal yeast aroma. Cardboard, dry, and not refreshing.

Apr 28, 2009 When your in CR this is the beer you choose when you’re going for maximum buzz, it’s got a little more kick than the imperial. Other than that... it basically tastes like a bad malt liquor.

Feb 1, 2009 350 ml can enjoyed after a Canopy Tour / Zip Line excursion. Pour is clear golden with a one inch white head. Aroma of malt and corn. The corn smells grainy and unnatural. Taste is a bit cleaner than the nose, but is still the malt and corn. Palate is thin, a touch watery with a finish that featured the corn in an unpleasant way.

Aug 14, 2008 Nothing tastes bad at a resort in costa rica. But this was the worst of the two local offerings. I love corn but now I know I do not like my beer to taste and smell like it.

Jul 28, 2008 This beer has a somewhat more noticeable bitterness, and its mixture of malts and rice makes it rather dry. With a refreshing feeling, balanced bouquet and full body, it works very well as an accompaniment to food. Pilsen has been on the national beer market since 1888.

May 15, 2008 (Bottle) A friend brought be a bottle of this from a Costa Rican vacation. Aroma of corn and other light grains. Taste is very similar, with a dry finish. A better body than the other Costa Rican pale lager I sampled, but still leaves plenty to be desired.

Golden color, small white head. Grainy, papery, sweet malty nose. Quite watery, mostly grainy industrial flavor. Typical cheap lager and propably the worst of three Costa Rican main brands.
