2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2012 Re-Rate 5-15-12: Didn’t realize I had rated this already, almost exactly 8 years ago. Went from a 2.0 overall score to 2.6. Bottle at Punta Sol in Miraflores, Peru. Aroma not very pleasant. Crystal clear with very little head, and little visible carbonation. Nice, stronger Euro pils flavor with a mild hop profile. Enjoyable. 5-14-04:Proud to be the first Minnesotan to rate this brew. Doughy aroma, but not too pleasant. Large white head. Slightly cloudy, gold body. Good visible carbonation. Not much lace. A little overly carbonated. Poor aroma thankfully does not translate to the taste, although you still get a whiff every time you go down for a sip. A drinkable lager with a zing on the palate from the carbonation. Probably pretty good with Peruvian food. A worthy South American lager. Ar 3, Ap 2, Tas 3, Pal 4, Ov 8

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear cider gold, thin whitish head. Nose soapy, grassy, and sweet. Clean flavor, finishes crisp with no aftertaste. Noticeable corn-ish adjuncts. Very sweet, but has nothing vaguely funky or foul in it, which is a good thing.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A crystal clear gold color with a bright white frothy head that is massive in size, the lace is a white curtain draped upon the glass. Nose is crisp and clean as a lager should be, pleasant as noses go, start is quite sweet, nice malt profile, and the top light to middling in its feel to the palate. Finish has a biting acidity, the hops present and mellow in their spiciness, very dry aftertaste. In all fairness, one of the better lagers I’ve tasted in a while, quite a little thirst quencher and would be a great “lawnmower beer”.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A golden beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is sweet and warm - is it chili? The flavor is sweet, malty with a slightly bitter end - a really good thirst quencher. For a pilsener this has a great body.

Pale golden, frothy white head. Typical Mediterranean/South American maltaroma with some sweetness. Slightly sourish flavour but fresh and thirstquenching. Not so bad.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Looks like a typical American Standard. Tastes slightly better, more of an emphasis on clean malt flavors, some bitterness. Not bad, just not a lot going on.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I found this beer surprisingly good... I was expecting just another Latin American weak lager, but Pils Callao had decent body, a pleasing raste, and a sweet finish. Heck, I like it!
