2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle courtesy of Dakine. First up on my Central America Beer Tour – we head to Peru. Pours a really light clear gold with 2 finger white head and decent lacing. Nose is grain, sweet malt and a touch of skunk. Taste is sweet malt and a bit of hops – no skunk in the flavor. Very light mouth feel and really clean finish – almost no aftertaste. Refreshing beer. For what it is, it’s not bad – especially when it’s 102 degrees right now.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
thanks daknole Move along, nothing to see here. Pale golden color with a medium white head that fizzed out pretty quickly. Very little lacing. The aroma is lightly malty with a kind of sweet biscuit character. Crisp and light bodied and on the malty side. There are some hops but really not enough to keep this interesting for long. The finish is a little soft and watery but there is definitely worse out there. Below average on the whole but better than I was expecting.

1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle, a strong hoppy aroma, grassy with a little bit of fruit. Quite a light mouthfeel, but strongly biter. The grassy hop flavour dominates.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Had this out at a Peruvian restaurant. Expecting a typical light South/Central American pils, but pleasantly surprised. A bright, crisp easy-drinker, to be sure, but spiked with hints of real German pils, and, possibly, a nice hefeweisen? Wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but I’d definitely choose it over its competitors.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle while dining at Mochica Restaurant in San Francisco. Pale straw yellow, grainy aroma, slightly bready palate, but really just an average pale lager that is a little watery.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle... Clear, light yellow lager with a mid-sized, pillowy, white head and good retention. Smells like a very light mead... vinous and honey-laden with a hint of menthol. The flavor is sweet with some nice pilsner malt and pale grain/malt character. Leans just a touch on the sweet side of balance, but pleasantly so. Lightly bitter. Light to medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. Actually, a pleasant, refreshing surprise!

Couldn’t pass up the chance to add Peru to my list of countries rated. Fizzy yellow. Small white head. Grassy aroma with hints of corn. Watery and light to the extent that it’s impossible to describe as unpleasant. It’s almost like this one isn’t even there. Another foreign snoozefest.
