2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bright and clear yellow-gold with a fairly generous white head. Even getting some textbook lace. Delicate, sweetish cereal nose with hints of corn and metal. Light bitterness but thankfully quite dry compared to Bavaria or Imperial for example, which can both be a touch sweet. Some nutty notes in the backtaste. Absurdly clean. If you think you are craving one of these, in fact your body may be crying out for some nice cool water. Which is probably the secret of light pale lagers in the first place.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks zvikar. Clear golden. Aroma has some sweet graininess (corn) and some hops with light flowery and grassy hints. Sweetish bready flavor with some cereals and a bitter, slightly metallic, finish. Light-bodied. Better than I expected.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
At a tasting, thanks Zvikar, little head, clear pale yellow colour, a light hoppy aroma, some sulphur which becomes stronger in time, and a touch of vanila. Sweetish with a touch of bitterness, both fading away leaving a diluted watery sensation.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
It so very hot out as I lie on the beach, it’s so hot in fact I think I’ll drink a beer hell why not review it to. Looks like a big old mug of piss in front of me tasty, refreshing, thirst quenching pee that is. What the hell I smell hops wasn’t expecting that but I also smell sour corn and mild amounts of Euro skunk. Mmmmmmm………grassy. Ice cold this beer is pretty refreshing and does the trick. Light, crisp, is heavy on the bread flavor and starts to turn sour if you let it warm slightly. I recommend drinking it straight from the bottle while it’s still in the cooler surrounded by ice. Can a beer taste bas while on vacation? This slightly above swill and marks are probably inflated because I’m on the beach and dying of thirst.

Seemed to go well with the food of Costa Rica. When not drinking Bavaria light , this was the ticket.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bought and tasted in Costa Rica - side to side with Imperial, Pilsen and Bavaria Gold.
A: All were fine for the style with good carbonation that produced a nice head. 4s all around.
S: Imperial had a strong cooked corn smell with other vegetal notes - 2.5. Pilsen had light vegetal notes but mostly a simple grainy aroma - 3.0. Bavaria had no discernable vegetal or off notes and had a simple grainy aroma - 3.5.
T: Imperial was a touch harsh at the front with bitterness and hotness. Refreshing the rest of the way through. 2.5. Pilsen was simple throughout, but refreshing. Light bitterness. 3.0. Bavaria was the least bitter and had a touch more focus on bready malts (just barely). 3.5.
M: Imperial came on slightly strong but was otherwise fine. 3.0. Pilsen - 3.5. Bavaria - 3.5.
D: Given that these are meant for a hot Costa Rican day, they all drink well. I’ll give a slight nod to Pilsen and Bavaria. Imperial - 3.5. Pilsen and Bavaria - 4.0.
