COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer has a somewhat more noticeable bitterness, and its mixture of malts and rice makes it rather dry. With a refreshing feeling, balanced bouquet and full body, it works very well as an accompaniment to food. Pilsen has been on the national beer market since 1888.

Slightly better than Imperial (also from my country), I’d rather drink almost anything than an Imperial, that’s why I would prefer a Pilsen instead... still not a very good beer.

350ml can brought back by my co-worker, who went back recently to visit his homeland. Pours a golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is typical for the style with grass and grains. Taste is a grassy hop bitterness with some light underlying sweetness and a bit of a funky aftertaste. Light bodied with decent carbonation. Nothing special, just another uninteresting macro lager brw.

First beer in Costa Rica. Hopefully it gets better from here. Had this at a truck stop on the chicken bus route I took from the Panamanian border to San Jose. Kinda sour, a bit of a foul aftertaste. Ghetto-looking bottle.

Bottle. Has a flavor like Budwieser, though a little lighter. Definitely taste the rice presence.

350 ml bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a half-inch white head that stays for about 2 minutes. Crystal clear with small bubbles. Smell of adjuncts (corn) with a little bit of hops. Not very attractive. Tastes exactly as it smells - cooked corn with a slight touch of hops in the finish. Light bodied and watery. Mouthfeel is not very pleasant. Bubbles bite in the front, hops hardly balancing the grain (and corn). Beer is drinkable though despite the low scoring.

The pour: quite heady and effervescent. A very light straw in colour. The aroma: very feint, some sugary malts, possibly apple and a bit of barley. The taste: thin mouth feel, slightly bitter, quite a flat taste. The verdict: Costa Rica’s 2nd place beer. I haven’t really seen any Ticos drinking this. Nothing particularly good can be found in this beer.

~Pils malt aroma, slight sulfur, light spicy hops. ~Pours very light pale yellow color with lasting white rocky head. ~Light pilsner malt flavor with light spicy hops. ~light body, med high CO2, quick crisp finish. ~Run of the mill non offensive pale lager. Is what is. Hot summer day beer.

12 oz can brought back by a good friend from his trip to Costa Rica, Thanks for the opportunity Rob! Pours a solid golden yellow with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of sweet pilsner malt with hints of grain honey and enough hops to keep it from cloying. Sweet rich grainy malt with a slight floral hop flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slightly sweet mouthfeel. I liked this best of the three beers we sampled at our impromptu Central America lager fest. Decent beer for the style but could have really used some more hops.

This beer is ok. It is one of the beers you can get everywhere in Costa Rica. I would say it is like Bud back home. If you want cheap and easy to drink Pilsen all the way.
