3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Beer_Hawk for bringing this one back form Peru to share at the Nashville tasting.
Pours a dark garnet that throws up a fleeting tan head.
Roasty dry aroma. Malt and hops are evident.
The palate is smooth and medium bodied and delivers a malty, well balanced flavor profile.
Quite decent, even if I thought it wasn’t absolutely to style.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks to my bro (beer_hawk) for bringing me this home from Peru. This brew pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a slight roastiness. A roasty smokey note is very evident in the nose. A little thin and smooth.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Beer_Hawk for hauling this back from Peru, and saving one for the Nashville Tasting. A beer from Peru? This ought to suck. Pours mahogany with a tan head. So far, this looks like a good beer. Not much of an aroma, just very faint lager notes. Medium light texture. Initial flavor or maple and caramelized sugar, accented but some mild nuttiness and tobacco. Mildy sweet. This sort of tastes like a swarzbier, with a little less European hops and more spritzy on the palate. You know what, this does not suck at all.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 650 ml. Pours dark brown, almost black, with an off white head. Aromas of roasted malt, dried fruit, coffee and raisins. Flavours of milk chocolate, raisins, vanilla and malt. Almost too sweet, but on the right side in the end. Average carbonation, medium body, sticky texture.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an average creamy off white head that settled to a ring and left light lacing. Sweet aroma of honey and malts. The flavor had sweet malts, caramel, honey, and a very nice roastiness to it. Maybe lightly smoked also. Light body with a sweet malt after taste . Went well with my beef heart and chicken gizzard dinner down here in Chiclayo.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Lima, Peru and it pours a dark brown with very light carbonation and a brown-egg colored head. Sweet dark malt and typical schwartz aroma and flavor - caramel, molasses, brown sugar, with minimal hops simply for counteracting the malt. Best at night when Peru cools down after the sun has left...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured dark brown with a nice off-white head. Dark rosted malts with the flavor of chocolate and coffee. A sweet dark beer, the kind I like mixing with a lager. Cheap, sweet, dark beer, but I like it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at a gathering of TN Ratebeerians a couple months ago; thanks to Beer Hawk for bringing this back from Peru and sharing with us. Clear ruby black in the glass. Rocky-ish bubbly head is big and effervescent. Smells like the lager it is, mostly like harvested corn, but with a thin line of strawberry as well. Dark malty fruits in the middle accented by dark grains; sweet. I wrote that it was "schwartzbier-ish" with the malt character, and I guess that was right considering the style. The fruit flavors linger into the finish, where they become akin to jellied fruit candies or fruitcake. Not as creamy as a schwartzbier like Black Bavarian, the palate’s overwhelming characteristic is fizziness, although I didn’t find it distracting given the firm presence of the malt flavors.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
More like a sweet porter than a Schwarzbier; chocolaty/raisiny. I was worried because the label said ’Malta,’ putting images of non-alcoholic cloying syrup into my head; but this turns out to be beer, and fine beer at that.
