1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
A golden lager with a thick collapsing white head. In aroma, sweet adjunct malt with light grassy German hops, light mineral notes, boring. In mouth, a sweet cloying malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, watery bodied, boring. Can from an abuelita tienda near my hotel, Trujillo Perú.

Backus Trujillo. Gold color. In between Pilsner and Cusquena. Malt flavot, some corn flakes cereal. Good carbonation. Refreshing, not too sweet, decent palate. It is a pale lager but a decent one.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
It is a boring lager, nothing special. The color is yellow gold, thin foam, average carbonation. The hop doesn’t exist or too discreet and the malt or corn or the both are too sweet. I drank this beer in Lima. I think that the pilsen callao is a bit better.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle in Trujillo, just your average macro lager with a taste of mostly corn on a fizzy yellow body. Ok but drink it cold.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
620 ml bottle, gift from Perú (Thanks Eddie). This beer has a typical South American pale lager color, clear, translucent and lifeless. Head is big and white but disappears as fast as it grows. The aroma of weak malts lets the notes of corn syrup and grains. Taste is slightly better with a faint herbal bitterness giving it an edge over other South American macro swill, but not very much. Very, and it’s difficult to stress it enough, VERY light, but not offensive. Body is minimal, finish is evanescent, lively carbonated. The watery texture is in accordance to the overall blandness. I’m still waiting for a great Peruvian beer.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Had this during the 2011 Shenandoah Throwdown, courtesy of the inimitable GT. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Big grain and sweet corn. Grainy and full of corn. Medium bodied and sweet. Not as good as the other Peruvian can.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink in Cusco. The beer had a very clear gold color with a quite big foamy white head that had light cling but good retention. The aroma was very grassy and hoppy with some straw and a bit of malt. The taste was quite bitter and had a strong grainy and grassy flavor without much else. It was average in carbonation and fizz, but fairly thin and light in the mouth with a dry finish.
