Marsiblursi (1405), Gö te la borrrrg, Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2008 (Draught/barrel) Pours a hazy, glowing golden with a big white head. The aroma is extremely fresh and well balanced with tones of straw and bread like malt alongside a good dose of floral, grassy and light herbal hops. The undertones reveal some sweet notes of toffee and fudge but there is also some hints of dew and dough. A light, subtle fruitiness way in the background. Some earth and sulphur hints. Maybe a touch of lemon and lime. Tart and yeasty. The flavour is fresh, robust and full with a discreet, light to medium, straw malt sweetness and a medium grassy and clean bitterness. Almost citric and oaky on the finish. The mouthfeel is refreshingly crisp, creamy, light numbing and juicy with a dry finish. The aftertaste is pale malty with some herbal/floral freshness creping up on you. Medium full bodied. A perfect Pilsner.
KimJohansen (3351), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 28, 2008 Cloudy golden with medium white head. Sweet fruity aroma with yeasty, hoppy, floral and caramel notes. Sweet fruity, flavor with caramel and hoppy notes. asheft (820), Marburg, Germany Aug 24, 2008 [I don’t need to say where I got this]
Plenty of fresh czech hops in the nose together with a citrusy sulfur. Hazy caramel with a lasting clingy white foam. Excellent caramel maltiness behind a fairly assertive bitterness that seems to be more rounded in the filtered version. Tons of fresh hops flavour, but also fermentation sulfur and even some DMS. They tell me that’s it’s impossible, but I’m sure that I could detect a hint of aromatic oak in the very end as I licked my lips. Medium body and a lasting bitterness. Moderate carbonation--higher than one may expect from a cask. cgarvieuk (2388), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 15, 2008 RBESG 08 ... (6/27/08) From an oak barrel at the brewery in Plzen. Cloudy golden with a big white head. Aroma has a lot of yeast, some oak and very nice grassy hoppiness. Sweet malty flavor with some caramel, some pleasant oakiness and a long bitter hoppy grassy finish with a little spicy hint. Medium-bodied with a rounded silky mouthfeel. Really refreshing and definitely the best Pilsener I’ve ever had. 7/4/8/5/16=4.0
