Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný (unfiltered) is available on the Plzensky Prazdroj tour and at Na Parkanu in Plzen. A limited number of kegs were exported to Sweden and Finland for special events. Though the beer is not kvasnicovy (yeast beer), as there is no wort or young yeast added, it is unpasteurized and unfiltered.
Note that this is not the same as the more widespread tankovná (tank beer) or the unpasteurized (filtered) version, both of which are found throughout Prague and Czech Republic. all of these other versions should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry. Additionally, the 170 year Anniversary flip-top bottles should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry.

[Unfiltered, unpasteurized, barrel-fermented. From the brewery tour] Very cloudy yellowish/golden color. Nice dense foam on top of my small sample glass. Aroma is FRESH. Fresh yeast, fresh grassy hops. Delicious. The malt character seems to be a bit subdued by all the other complexities of this beer. Yeast character is quite dominant, but not really overpowering (or providing much, if any diacetyl.). Hop character is strong and grassy. Quite bitter. The fermentation within the barrel seems to provide some interesting character to the beer overall... kind of musty and wet. Another layer of complexity. Overall, this beer was one of the highlights of my beer-focused trip abroad. Outstanding, overall. I’ll be lucky if I’m able to try this one again.

Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný (CZ) - Bohemian Pilsener/Keller - 4.4%

0.5L at Na Parkanu, Plzen. Hazy gold color, big white head. Of course similar to the original Urquell, close to the unpasteurized version found in Plzensky Prazdroj, yet more smooth, fluffy, silky, full bodied, creamy texture, very fresh. Proper carbonation, yeast has a key role here but is not overwhelming. Excellent pilsener, and possibly THE pilsener.

From the wooden barrel at an event at the Windsor Castle W8, sampled next to the standard stuff served in pubs here. Deeper colour, hints of amber, hazy. Medium head. Carbonation lower and softer, far nicer to drink. Fresh hop, spicy, bitter. It’s glorious. I do think it’s not as rich as the Urquell I remember from the Plzen trip in 1998, hard to tell whether my palate or the recipe are responsible for this change.

Got to have it on draft - out of the bottle just doesn’t do this beer justice

Pĺ fat. Riktigt god pilsner. Smak och doft av humle,, malt, jäst med toner av karamell och örter. Jämn och len. Fruktig med fin beska. Välbalanserad och lagom sötma. Karaktär.

Quite good pilsener, way better that filtered v. Malty, light caramel notes, sometimes doughy. Fizzy carbonation, not so stable head, hazy. Classic interpretation.

From oak barrel @ Plzensky Prazdroj brewery tour 20140729. Pours hazy straw. Good head retention. Aroma is malty and spicy with some yeast tones. Taste is similar with a lot of yeast and a nice aroma hoppyness.
