3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reviewed 12/21/2012. 12 fl oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a perfectly clear golden straw color. The head is a fluffy two finger white color with surprising retention (for a macro lager). Good lacing, too.
S: AARGH LIGHTSTRUCK!!! Beneath the unfortunate skunk in the aroma, there lies simple pale malts and zesty noble hoppiness.
T: Thank smeg the flavor is a massive improvement. Initially, some fruity esters greet the palate, before the zesty, refreshing finish...AND IT’S GONE! Holy shit, did I finish the beer that quickly? It’s hardly BCBS, but as far as simple macro-brewed lagers go, this one’s the best in the business.
M: The palate feel seems perfectly tailored to provide crisp refreshment. There’s this real sense of subtle delicacy that separates this not only from the BMC stalwarts, but numerous craft lagers as well. The bitter aftertaste is fantastic for what this beer is trying to accomplish.
O: A damn shame about the skunky nose - luckily the rest of the beer easily compensates by offering everything you could want in a proper pilsner. Could be a go to for me in cans/on tap.

Hoping the can saves this beers life!
Pours a golden ale with just under a finger of white foam that falls quickly to a sheet leaving nice cobweb lace. Smells of grain, corn and a hint of earthy hops, just a hint of sweetness. Bitterness with a solid light malt, some hints of hay and grass, nice pilsner. The hops are actually quite assertive. IMO a little more full bodied than most, but appropriately matched with some smooth, yet sharp carb. A nice pilsner, quite nice. Too bad the green bottle fucks it up.

Crisp beer with not much of a taste other than a really slight malt. Refreshing, but nothing to rave about.

One of the best mass-produced beers I have tasted. The taste is bitter in a comfortable way.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A nice amber beer with a small head.
The initial smell was what I would have called skunky, but it did not taste that way and after swirling the beer, that smell went away. Instead, it has a bready smell and a little bit of sulfur. Not the greatest smell but it was not overpowering.
The bready-ness continued into the taste. You can definitely taste the malt and there is a slight hoppy aftertaste.
The carbonation can be tasted and all of the taste is in the front of the mouth. A good beer and a decent first try at a Czech Pilsner.
