Dense black beard, brilliant plumage, reverberating gobble--Old Tom is notorious for haunting the Ozark hills. He’s a prize gobbler with the wisdom to stay just out of reach. Our handcrafted porter is also memorable, but it’s one Old Tom that won’t get away. Color 21.2 SRM

on tap. Served a dark brown color with a tan head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bit of chocolate and grain. Taste is similar with roasted malt, chocolate hint of wood. Decent bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Moderate body, quite smooth and flavorful. Nice beer.

16 oz can. I love the concept.

Pours a very dark brown. Two fingers head. Pretty good retention. Nice clinging lacing.

Aroma is toffee. There’s some chocolate, some medium roasted malt. There’s some smoke.

Taste is a little watery. It has a lot of flavor. Its balanced well between bitter and sweet leaning toward bitter. I taste toffee and some chocolate. It has also some creaminess in it, and it blends well with the chocolate and makes it taste like mocha in the finish.

Mouthfeel is actually light, at least for a porter. Good flavor, medium body. It could stand to be a little heavier. But the drinkability is high, especially for a porter.

Overall this is really really good. It might not be the best porter I’ve ever had, but by golly its the most drinkable one. Absolutely try it if you can.

Bottle. Aroma is rich roasted malts with yeasty dough and hints of chocolate and licorice. Appearance is dark, dark brown--virtually opaque with finger-width beige head with poor retention and transient lacing. Taste is moderately roasted malty sweet with some yeasty sour. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, mild carbonation and long, pleasant mild bitter finish. Overall, a thin-bodied Porter with a nice aroma, appearance and taste.

Pours a nice, dark, brownish black, with good-sized, lasting head. Aroma of chocolate coffee, roasted malt. Flavor includes all of these, with some leather and dark fruits. A bit over-carbonated/fizzy for palate. This could use a bit more work.

Pours chestnut with three fingers of tan head and good lacing. Aroma has some mild roastiness and brown bread. Taste follows the nose with some mild roastiness, dark bread and woody hops. Finishes dry with coffee roastiness. Medium bodied, fairly creamy, thins out some as it warms. A soild, easy-drinking Porter.

2015 can. Pours a medium translucent brown with a fairly thick light tan head. Aroma is a nice sweet, toasty malt with a bit of milk chocolate. Taste pretty much follows the nose with a little bit of a lactose taste and toasty bitterness at the end. Light medium mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Could be better. Could have a smoother, creamier, or thicker body. Flavors are all there, but the body just leaves it without a leg to stand on. Decent beer.
