COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A wonder bouquet of hops will start out on the palate then transition to a welcoming calmness from the smooth chocolate malts that will linger taking away from an over the top hoppy bitterness. Enjoy!

Pours a translucent black brown on tap with thin ring of lacy head that sticks lightly. Aroma of piney resinous hops, roasted barley, and chocolate malt. Taste follows, but the roasted malt falls off and allows for more hops to come through. Bitter finish and a decent sticky mouth. Pretty good, perhaps one of their better besides the ghost pepper stuff.

Tap at Brewer’s Pizza for RBWG. This is now the 15th beer named Black Hops after I assume the inferior game to Halo. Clear, deep amber pour. Danker nose, some spruce, coffee. Taste is spruce, tea, sweet chocolate. Mild spicy finish. Palate is not as thin as their other offerings, has some actual body.

Tap at the brewpub, RBWG 2013. Pours clear brown with a fine, frothy white head. Lots of floral, piney hops in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, some lightly roasted malts, more juicy pine, grapefruit. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly resinous to finish with juicy grapefruit, orange, pine, hints of licorice. Good one.

So roasty, toasty, tasty. Nice hop and malt balance. Minimal nose, but could be too cold....couldn’t wait for it to warm up...had to drink, too tasty

On tap at the brewpub. Bang on the style, roasted with lots of Cascadian. Very drinkable. Nice, happy. Black, lacey. Middle mouthfeel, tingling the palate.

Black Hops doesn’t have much aroma to speak of, but that initial sip hits you with hop bitterness. The bitter quickly.dissipates to reveal coffee flavors one might expect from a stout and nice floral flavors that one might expect from a good IPA. The latter linger in an enjoyable bouquet. Very nice overall.

On draft at Cigar City. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is roasted malts with pine, orange, and some chocolate. Flavor follows: roast, pine, light citrus, and some chocolate. Interesting Black IPA in a style I don’t particularly care for.

On draft at Brewer’s Pizza. Pours a medium stout-ish brown with an off-tan head. Nose is malt, pine, slight coffee, and hints of sweetness in the chocolate malt. Flavor is similar with cocoa, pine, slight chocolate, malt, and bits of coffee. Medium in body and nice for a style that I am not a big fan of.
