MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Mar 20, 2008 500ml - Aroma is very mellow sour lemon and malt. Pours cloudy yellow and a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma and is uninspiring. A little yeastiness creeps in at the end. Palate is creamy and tart. Not bad, but there are many better hefe’s. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA Mar 18, 2008 I really wanted to like this one, as it was deemed "organic" at Lumiere in West Newton. I also love a good Hefeweizen this time of year, but this one from Pinkus fell short. Appearance was fine - perhaps just a touch on the pale side. Very little aroma - not bad, but just lacking. Where is that mix of banana/clove/bubblegum esters that I expected? Flavor was similarly a bit bland - thin on the palate and didn’t do much for exciting my taste buds. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Mar 13, 2008 Bottle. Slightly opague yellow pour with thin head. Sour taste, thin body, not well done. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 7, 2008 500ml bottle poured into weizen glass- poured cloudy pale yellow orange, white head collapsed onto itself, medium carbonation, aroma of sourness. Hits the mouth with a pale body, some carbonation on the mouth, malt doesn’t come over at all, some sourness and clove quality on the finish. I’ve had better... kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Feb 29, 2008 Pours with a lot of foam fuss. Pale less, only slightly cloudy, almost clear. Smells is weak, like the sweet (corn) grain of a cheap american pale lager. Taste is pretty weak, like a corny, crappy pale lager. Why is this called a hefe-weizen? A little fizz for the mouthfeel. I just can’t find a redeeming quality for this watery beer (bier). It’s a little bitter, only slightly though, very slight, I guess. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 20, 2008 Pours cloudy yellow/orange with a large foamy head. Spicy hot aroma with some sour wheat. Tastes like water-crackers... bland and boring. Tastes like wheat blended into water. Gritty palate. Could be the most boring beer I’ve ever had. Tastes like some crappy "home brew" Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria Feb 17, 2008 Bottled: Light yeasty aroma, light fruity with citrus notes. Very pale yellow color, foamy head. Flavor with intensive citrus notes (tangarine, orange), apricot and spices (pepper and more). Sourly and light hoppy finish. Dry end. Spicy brew with pleasant citrus notes and some witbeer character. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Feb 2, 2008 Picked this bottle up from Munchen, Germany Poured very hazy straw coloured medium head, some gentle fruits on nose. Flavour is very easy going not at all taxing there is yeast and some banana but overall quite easy drinking.
