kmweaver (2398), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 3, 2009 500mL bottle, courtesy of my mother-in-law’s magical fridge of secrets. Thanks! Pours a very hazy, whitish-brown color; thin, off-white head with decent lacing; kind of a sickly color... Light diacetyl presence atop basic bananas, mild bitterness, and citrus in the aroma; slightly off. Medium mouthfeel, lively carbonation: milky, slightly buttery character upfront, following the nose; below: citrus acidity, ripe bananas, and some breadiness and sweetness at the core; basic, well-carbonated, viscous but flawed hafeweizen; tastes better than it smells. Medium finish: citrus, cloves, and lingering slightly overripe sweetness. corby112 (679), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 25, 2009 Pours a very mirky yellowish color with a thin white head. It kind of looks like a banana beer. Weak citrus aroma with hints of wheat, banana and lemon zest. Bland flavor with hints of citrus and lemon peel, bread, banana and clove with a sweet and slightly sour lemon juice finish.
Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured cloudy paler golden with peach highlights and a thick cap of white head. The aroma picked up soft toasted banana and clovey notes with plenty of dry, airy yeast.. decent components, but too weak. The flavor had the same watery toasted banana and a pinch of lemon zest accented by vanilla and just a little clove.. lightly sour on the finish. Light-medium bodied with thick, rolling carbonation on the palate.. again watery and weak, otherwise a decent drinker. mcdav2154 (295), Germany Aug 24, 2009 Hazy golden body with a creamy thick head. Smells very much of lemon with a faint banana. Doesn’t taste much like a hefeweizen. Kind of watery. Descent beer but not a typical good hefeweizen. Overall drinkable. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2009 From a big ol’ German bottle into a wheat glass at a bar. Not bad, but a bit sour in the flavor. microakes (94), Canada Aug 13, 2009 Pale cloudy yellow, with a light, wheaty nose. Not much taste here. Light hint of citrus in the rather light wheat taste. Not too interesting though. Refreshing enough but not exactly coming in as my new favourite.56tr bulldogops (154), Alberta, Canada Aug 1, 2009 Bottle @ Metro. 5.1%. Yellow pour that is fairly cloudy. Aroma is of grains, citrus, bananas, coriander, ginger?. Taste is fairly wheaty, but complex, and mild sweetness.
Overall, this beer is drinkable, enjoyable, and a solid Hefeweizen.
