Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 12, 2006 These motherfuckers! I was well aware of this beer’s average rating so I wasn’t expecting much.....until I poured it into a glass. Holy freaking crap this sucker looks good! Gorgeous cloudy yellow color with an amazingly HUGE white head that lasts and then lasts and later lasts some more. Too bad it’s not very good in any of the other categories. The aroma isn’t horrible, hints of lemon and lots of grain. Nothing special. But then the flavor hits and I get super pissed! This beer is boring dammit and by boring I mean it’s that bad kinda boring that isn’t horrible tasting. I get hints of citrus but none of that good banana clove thing that I love in this kind of beer. I get some weird grainy sensations. Overall, I get nothing though. I’m not happy with this beer and I’m only unhappy because it doesn’t suck. There’s nothing worse than mediocrity. I could laugh at this sucker if it were terrible. Instead I get to drink it and wish it were better.
And what’s really pissing me off is that the lacing is fucking beautiful throughout my mediocre beer experience. I’ve never had a beer look so good and taste so ok. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 10, 2006 Poured a very hazy dark yellow color with a small white head. Yeasty doughy aroma. Sweet malt with mild lemon notes. Malty flavor with a citrusy finish. medium body. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2006 Cloudy light orange / yellow color with a creamy white head. Sweet wheat aroma. Flavor of wheat and grain. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2006 Bottle. Slighty foggy white-yellow body with a small white head. The aroma has fruity banana, cheese, and minerals. Lively, prickly carbonation. The flavour is missing a lot of the typical fruity characteristics of the style and therefore doesn’t really intrigue me.
Sampled at the Københavnske Øldage 2006 on May 20, 2006. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada May 30, 2006 Pale bright cloudy gold, thin fizzy head. Thin, faint citric nose, grapefruit. Watery body. Citric front but off bland hefe character. Smooth finish. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden May 28, 2006 Pours hazy orange with a thick white head. Typical clove and citrus in aroma. Flavour is quite fruite with strong notes of yeast. Some ham is present. Hints of pears and banana in finish. Pinnhead (93), New Jersey, USA May 26, 2006 It pours a just barely opaque amber with generous head. I am not a big wheat bear fan but this is truly subtle and tasty. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA May 22, 2006 Blah. Very boring beer. Weak yellow pour with a big head. Aroma is stale hay. No banana or cloves. Taste is musty yeast with grass. Too expensive to try again.
