Banana dominates the aroma, so much that I can’t pick anything else up even with normal hefe expectation. Pours a cloudy yellow with small white head and not much retention. No lacing. The is some pepper looking sediment. Banana is the strongest flavor with citrus flavor as well. This is good but is different the any hefe I’ve had before. Not real typical of the style but still very good. Very slight sour taste tends to develop over time but really doesn't affect my opinion. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 17, 2004 The aroma is light with notes of spice and yeast. The carbonation level is appropriatly high for the style. The palate is light dry and hoppy. I notice some off flavors that are probably caused by pasteurization. This is unlike any other German Hefeweizen that I have ever tried; there is a complete lack of the typical clove and banana flavors usually associated with this style. Its too much like an American Wheat to get my intrest. bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 12, 2004 (Bottle) Pours a golden orange color with a medium-sized white head. Light Hefeweizen flavor. Aroma of banana and citrus. Braudog (3752), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2004 Light orange and hazy with a big poffy head. Orange-citric aroma with a sweet yeasty flare. Active on the tongue. Orange charcter dominates. Nice chiller. heemer77 (4303), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2004 Slight lemon and grass in the aroma. Probably a little biased because they put a lemon on the glass at the restaraunt where I got this. This poured a gold that was too pale. Full yeasty and grassy taste. Solid hefe. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Good clean hefe. Cloudy, off-yellow appearance with a thin white head. Clean wheaty fragrance with some spicy coriander notes. Good thick mouthfeel, coats the tongue. Flavor has some buttery notes to it with a bit of sprucey hoppiness to top it off. All in all a pleasant hefe. Aurelius (2647), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Oddly, this smelled a bit like the Rio Grande Chile Verde beer that I had at the beginning of this session. Either it's on my moustache, or it actually smells that way. Translucent pear gold beer, terrible label. Lightly angelfood sweet, somewhat doughy, no hops. Finish is sweet and fruity and the body is thin. Needs a whack more esters or some more yeast musk or something. Not offensive in the least, but not very distinctive. Pinkus has had better forays. | 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Apr 11, 2004 One of the most disappointing wheats I have ever had. Thin and watery. Very light aromas of citrus and banana. Sour taste, no noticeable wheat taste. If this is what organic beer is meant to be stay away.
