It’s like the old saying: looks like George Best plays like Pete Best. This looks like it’s going to be an awesome Hefe. It’s all orange-tinted and cloudy and just beautiful to look at. But, the proverbial but, it smells a bit like compost, has this impotent white head and it tastes like a strand of wheat was dipped once in water. It has none of the banana or clove flavors none of that burst of flavor you would expect to find in the style. It makes you wonder why someone would bother to import this shit into the country.

500. Pours a slightly hazy pale gold with very little in the way of filmy bits clinging to the edge of the top. Pleasantly mild banana nose. Watery light body, undercarbed. Banana note gets a little tangy and tart on the mid-palate, not quite an aluminum quality to it, but a little pucker it doesn’t really need. Could certainly be the wheat, but these guys have enough trouble with off notes that it’s worth noting that it’s not a pleasant effect. Not much clove happening. Indistinct enough that it’s easy to wonder whether everything that’s in the glass was intended to be there.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 weihenweizen (633) - West Virginia, USA - MAR 17, 2011
Refrigerated 16.9 oz bottle served in a weizen glass. Pours a translucent light golden color with light aroma and medium white head that dissaptes quickly. Body is medium, some lacing, and extra yeast in the bottom of the bottle. Taste is yeast, some lemon, and some grass. Dissapointing for a hefeweizen, more like an american wheat ale.

Appearance: beautiful; hazy butterscotch with thick head that’s gone quickly. Aroma: not a busy nose; light grass and citrus. Taste: crisp and light, some citrus: orange and grapefruit. Finish: short and clean, not much flavor. Notes: Very mediocre and boring.

500 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de.
Hazy yellow golden colour with huge foamy white head.
Aroma is yeast (almost like Belgian yeast), sweet toffee, fruits and some hoppiness.
Flavour is sweet caramel, wheat, malt, fruits (not necessarily banana) and mild hops. Not very typical Weizen (at least not Bavarian Weizen). Slightly thin.
