3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 thirdeye11 (3911) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 15, 2011
(Draught) cloudy yellow color, white frothy head, looks nice and great lacing. Nose of spices, light lemon, clean, but lacking any real character. Taste matches what the nose shows, clean, lightly spicy, bready, very little lemon, banana, or other typical hefeweizen characteristics. Just sort of bland. Easy to drink, but not enough of what I want in a hefeweizen.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Grima (1240) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 13, 2011
The beer in the glass has a very light yellow color, the foam is medium-pored, soapy and short-lived. It smells surprisingly more hoppy than yeasty. Starts very tart, lemony-fruity with a hint of peach and little yeasty. The aftertaste is fruity-fermented, slightly musty. The further course is very acidic, still with no trace of yeast-aroma. Strange Weizen. Could almost pass as a Belgian Wit ...

Kind of thin and watery, but not bad. Citrus-y taste, without much banana or spice. Has a nice floral aroma.

Bottle. Cloudy milky yellow, white cream. Light citric notes on banana, medium to light body, quick finish. Quite fresh. Makes me think most about american wheats, slightly fuller though.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jhumphries69 (1035) - Tyrone, Georgia, USA - JAN 23, 2011
50cl bottle. Cloudy gold-yellow tan pour with no head. Lemony fresh scent with crisp wheat malts. Flavor is crackery and bready with touches of cakiness and citrus oil. Dry bready/wheat finish with a touch of tartness. Crisp body. Overall, an interesting hefeweizen quite different in character than many other German examples of this style. It is more citrusy and is missing a lot of the fruit and spice from fermentation that Bavarian hefeweizen tends to have.
