Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Mar 1, 2009 Bottle at the Fourth Butters’ Cellar Clearance Event. Pours a milky pale yellow straw with true white fading head. Grassy and light lemon. Slightly bitter lemon pith flavor with some wheat. Moderately slick and low carbonation. Not the best I’ve had. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Mar 1, 2009 500ml bottle at Butters’ 4th Cellar Reduction. Pours a white head that leaves a few bubble clusters and a cloudy, banana yellow body. Smells little wet dogback along with some yeast, banana, and spice. Tastes earthy with citrus notes that liven the palate. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Feb 18, 2009 Bottle. Poured a hazy golden with a fluffy white head that settles to a ring and had light lacing. The aroma has banana, clove, wheat, and some yeast. The flavor found banana, wheat, and citrus. Light body, tingly carbonation with a light tart and wheat aftertaste. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jan 18, 2009 Bottle 50cl. @ home. Aroma is light to moderate malty, wheat, light yeasty, citrus acidic, light notes of banana. Flavor is moderate sweet, light light acidic and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20081104] Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jan 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a pale golden body with a full white head. Light citrus, wheat, coriander, light spices, earthy and bready. Simple and dull. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jan 12, 2009 My waiter recommended this as one of his favorite hefe weizens, but I am hard pressed to imagine how it would be anyone’s favorite anything. Cloudy almost dirty-looking orange with a thick white head. Nose and flavor are sharp and citric but missing the banana and clove I expect from a German hefe. Just citrus and something kind of funky and nasty underneath, like dirty dishwater. Everyone at my table tried it and agreed. Gross. Nasty. Hated it. Sent it back. ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 8, 2009 Hazy yellow color, white head at first pour. Honey lemon flavor that is a bit sour . I liked this beer. Worth trying if you like this style. BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jan 4, 2009 Straw/hazy color with white head that left some light lacing. Light lemony/citrus aroma. Faint yeast/spicy flavor, little to no typical banana/clove flavor/aroma here. A light, spritzy wheat although not big on the standard profile I’m used to with a Bavarian wheat.
