thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Aug 5, 2008 Pour is a bright but hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is malts, wheat and yeast but all very light. Flavor is a bit of biscuit and wheat but not much else. A pretty light all around offering. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Aug 3, 2008 Murky yellow color, moderate to small head, some lacing and retention. Aroma is muted with notes of banana, clove, light yeast and wheat tartness. Medium to light bodied, fairly sweet with a light tartness. Overall bland. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pint Bottle... Poured bright, hazy yellow with a thick white head. Looked great, but the head diminished quickly and then the beer just looked like passion fruit juice. Aroma of faint orange peel and cracker-malt. An un-obtrusive palate that’s refreshing. Flavors of cracker-like, biscuit-malts, sweet, citrusy hops and yeasty characteristics that lend to fruity esters and cloves. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jul 15, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a hazy golden color with a large white head. Light malty aroma includes some citrus and biscuit. Taste is of wheat malts, sweet light fruits, and very light spice. Average carbonation, but the mouthfeel leaves something to be desired. Not a bad beer, but rather one dimensional and boring. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 1, 2008 Underrated. Pale yellow, hazy with a minimal head. Aroma is sweet, winey, apple, wheat. Lightly spiced carbonation. Thiner palate. Citrus notes. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jun 24, 2008 An average pour produces an almost four finger thick, pale, off-white colored head in my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is a clearish, gold color that shows lightly hazy, straw gold color when held up to the light. The aroma is lightly fruity with an almost tropical edge to it. A solid wheat / grain character kicks in at the finish providing aromatic notes reminiscent of crushed saltine crackers and dusty crushed grain. Lightly tart wheat notes and perhaps a touch of esters join the general fruitiness of this beer. This has a pretty nice nose, though it seems to get a little deflated in the finish and never has much in the way of complexity.
A faint, sweet grain character up front quickly dries out in the finish and in subsequent sips. This has a very creamy mouthfeel to it despite being fairly well carbonated. Soft grain flavors of hay, crushed wheat and even some light honey notes seem to be the most noticeable part of the flavor. Cracker like malt, some touches of stale grain, some tart wheat notes and a dusty graininess also are here. On the whole, other than the grain character this comes off as being a very clean, almost non-descript beer.
Not your typical, traditional HefeWeizen, it is fairly clean all around and really not much to write home about. In fact it can almost be downright bland. The grain notes that do form the bulk of the flavor don’t really work all that well either as parts of them come off as being a bit stale.
Purchased: Plaza Liquors, Tucson AZ Adenila (931), Denmark Jun 24, 2008 Yellow hazy look with a fat white head. Aroma is grassy and has some notes of citrus, not a whole lot of fruity wheat, but some is there. Flavor is kinda citric and sleightly bitter. Ok beer Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Jun 13, 2008 Pours a cloudy yellowish color with a big white head that does not hang around long. Aroma is very light but offers wheat and little else. Flavor is lemon and wheat. Just a bit of orange is deep underneath. A tart citrus zing helps an otherwise thin feel This one falls a little short in every category. Still, it is light, crisp, and refreshing. Kind of like a hefe-lite.
