3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Presentation: 500mL brown bottle, served in a weizen glass.
Appearance: Develops a two finger head that goes down a bit and then stays there. It has a cloudy, pale yellow color.
Smell: The aroma has a refreshing fruit zest character to it, of lemon mainly. There’s also faint malt, hop and yeast scents in the background.
Taste: Zesty citrus flavor mixed with some hop bitterness and a hint of malt sweetness. All of this followed up by a bit of yeast chalkiness in the background.
Mouthfeel: Dry, light, and refreshing, with little carbonation.
Overall: Just because it has a refreshing character, doesn’t mean it’s still not a flavorful beer. On the contrary, tt’s great because it’s versatile. You can just enjoy it on it’s own, and really get into it, or just sip on it to cool down without giving it much though. You can also have it with food and it won’t be a distraction, but it’ll be more interesting than your average ale or lager. Just a good all around beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pinkus Organic Hefe-Weizen has a thick, white, crackly head, a very hazy golden appearance, stray bubbles, which become even hazier when the caked bottom contents are swished & poured in. Lacing is present, but dies away rather quickly. The aroma is quite odd- various sour cheese smells are picked up (cream cheese, cottage cheese, colby). Taste is of white wheat bread, tap water, sourness, and dirt. No coriander or banana was detected. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, soft, and prickly. Pinkus Organic Hefe Weizen finishes refreshing and easy drinking. RJT

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Transfer from BA review on 9-21-13-
Poured from bottle into a weizen glass
Appearance – Pours a massively hazy yellow color with a nice thick pure white head. THE thick head persists for a very long time, slowly fading over time to leave a great level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The smell is heavy of wheat and yeast with a moderately strong smell of spices. The spices are mainly of clove and cardamom but are joined by some light pepper as well. Along with these smells is a big lemon citrus and grassy aroma producing a nice yeasty and lemony Hefeweizen smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and smooth wheat taste. It is on the drier side from the start, but does have some sweetness of lemonade and banana. As the flavor advances yeast begins finding its way to the tongue, with it growing rather strong at the end of the taste. While the yeast gets stronger so too does a lighter clove flavor. At the same time the yeast and clove grow stronger the sweeter flavors of a lemonade nature lessen, with a light grassy and hay like flavor coming to the taste at the very end and combining with the rest to leave a very smooth but somewhat subdued Hefeweizen flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side as well. A bit more carbonation may have been slightly more fitting as it would have complemented nicely the lighter body in making for a very easy drinking brew.
Overall – An alright Hefeweizen. It looks fantastic and has a good aroma, but the flavors are just a bit too subdued and the carbonation is a bit too light. Just OK.

330 ml bottle, rated 2014-09-10 @ Heidelberg
Hazy yellow beer with little white head. Aroma has yeast, toffee, bubble gum and some banana. Flavor has yeast, toffee, vanilla and some pineapple. Palate is thin with strong carbonation. Finish has a mild bite of bitterness with aftertastes of yeast, some fruitiness and pineapple. Quite mild aromas and the fruitiness is not strong, not very refreshing. Bonus for being organic.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
"Decent hefe with the requisite banana and clove aspects of the nose and flavor, but a little too thin and overly bubbly for my liking. Othewise ok, but that does away from the overall."

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Northern German interpretation of this style and therefore dryer and hoppier (almost a different substyle, one could argue). Yellowish white, creamy and rocky head, very stable, deep ochre yellow colour, cloudy, some greenish hue. Fresh wheat sourishness in the nose, soft malts, pepper, lemon, apple; soft malty taste, not really sweet, light fruitiness, minerals, yeasty, dry, sourishness stays till the end, where briefly some floral and peppery hops appear, but remaining very subtle. I missed the bananas in the aroma, guess I like the original Southern German variant better.

i was expecting much more considering the Pinkus Alt is very good.
This pours like a standard hefe, it looks nice and cloudy dull yellow with some foam. But there is only an aroma of hops wheat and not much else---no Bavarian yeast with classic banana, bubble gum or clove aromas; I gave the beer a big deduction for that. Other than that, it is a basic beer without bitterness but also without any outstanding character...middle of the pack=boring.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught @ the brewpub. Pours clear golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of malt, yeast and hops. Sourish, grainy flavour, with estery and hoppy notes. Rough finish. Looks and tastes like something between a Pilsener and a Kristallweizen. Drinkable but nothing special. Perhaps I expected sth else.

0,5L bottle, BB 04.2015. Pours hazy golden with white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, fruity, grainy and perfumy. Flavor is sour, wheat, citrus, fruits and grains. Overall: too sour, disappointing weizen.

Not bad not great. Organic isn’t always better. Some wheat aromas. Flavors are citrus dominated. Some wheat. Watery.

Mild rezent, schlank. Im Abgang leicht zitronig-grasiger Hopfen. Schwach bitterer, grasiger Nachtrunk. - Erfreulich untypisches Hefeweizen: spritzig und angenehm säuerlich, ohne bananige Süße. Enorm erfrischend und unbedingt probierenswert!
