4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pronounced honey nose, significant dandelion and clover. Hazy golden, medium sticky head. Tastes as it smells, but dry and malty. Dandelion is unmistakable. Light body, soft carbonation. Fantastic altbier. Smells like a mead, drinks like an English golden ale.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a clear light yellow color with a large fizzing white head that falls to just a ring. The smell is grain, light sweet malt and some grassy hops. The taste is grain, tangy fruit, grassy hops and definite dryness on the end. The body is light and the carbonation is average level sand tight and prickly. Obviously, not a Düsseldorf style altbier.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gold, fairly clear, thin white head. Aroma of grainy malt with a little biscuit and a hint of honey. Flavor is honey-sweet malt and a pronounced apple fruitiness. The fruity character is prominent in flavor but not in aroma. A pretty one-dimensional light, fruity ale.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2014 50cl Karstadt Braunschweig. Pours lighter than most Alts, slightly past BB this has faint sour touches that seem normal, reading recent reviews. More like a zesty Kölsch, sharing its fruity lemonade mats and mild hops; rather pleasant - although easy to see this could go off when shipped.//bottle bb06/2014, Biomarkt FR-Rieselfeld: apple juice malt aromatics, some almond quality, slightly sticky palate with a cardboard finish. A conflicted Kölsch, not an Alt at all.-0.2 /Rerates, 50cl from Biomarkets: learned in the meantime that Müstersch Alt is a separate style that is supposed to be nore anemic and a little tart, well if you are looking for one of those, you have the only lasting commercial example herr. still feel it has been taste-conglomerated though - especially when compared to new Münster Überwasser Alt.

1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Aroma: Pretty obvious diacetyl with some movie theatre butter in the nose; it’s hard to smell anything past it, so can’t say much else. Appearance: Hazy, unfiltered gold with a skin of white head. This doesn’t look or smell like an Altbier thusfar. Flavor: Buttery, tangy and maybe a touch of toast, but man is this bad. Gettin’ my drain pour on. Palate: Medium body... screw it, I’m not putting any more of this trash in my mouth. Overall: From other rates, it seems this beer has fallen on hard times. What a waste of money on my way to 100 German beers. An unfortunate speed bump.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Pours gold, no head. Nose of lemon, some floral and malt in the background. Flavour is also mainly lemon, maybe other stuff but yeah the infection’s sourness lingered the rest of the night in my mouth, no way was this the flavour they were going for. Drinkable but glad it wasn’t a larger bottle.
EDIT: When hops cause a lemon flavour it’s crisp lemon rind with a clean finish. When bacteria causes it, it sharpens in the finish. Looking through the reviews here, this beer looks really interesting as a traditional German ale but they’ve definitely got consistency problems... when a quarter of reviewers list sourness as the main characteristic, and three quarters -- even including top reviewers -- don’t even mention it, there’s something going on.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2013 Bottle 0. 5l. I hope that this bottle was infected. Best before 05/2014. Horrible and disgusting aroma I can’t describe. Sweet, boozy, sour. Taste is sweet, corn, like the cheapest lager you can imagine. No roasted flavour, no hops, no bitterness. Nothing, only sweetness. Colour is clear golden with no head. Must try again but not in the near future.
