16.9oz bottle labeled as Ur-Pils 10/17/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-40° in Footed Pilsner-Pours a slightly hazy light golden with a one finger white head. Aroma of hops, sweetness, malty, and yeasty. Taste of the same with a bit citrus and grassy. This light bodied brew is easy drinking and quite tasty.

Pours a very hazy straw color yellow with enough bubbles rising to the top and a creamy head of bone white foam that left good lacing. Nose is exactly what it should be. Yeasty, with a sour twang. Little citrus and some grain and bready malt. Taste was flat and I will say that I thought it might be old. There is a freshness code on the bottle but not in date form and in the store I just bought it anyway. The taste was a little too smooth. I would say tame and it just wasn’t crisp. The yeast had plenty of bite on the nose but that did not translate into the drink. It was even a little chalky in the middle and a bit drying. It had all the other elements of a good pils. It had a light lemon, little bit of grass and a soft bready malt. Finished almost dry but muddled overall. Mouthfeel was so soft that I thought it out of the ordinary for a pils.

I was a bit disappointed but I would say to try this one anyway. It’s organic and it could simply be that this bottle was not fresh.

Hazy golden color with a large white head that fades quickly. Crisp, malty, yeasty. Hints of pepper and citrus zest. A mild hops in the finish.

(on tap) Golden, clear, with a persistent white head. Aroma is grassy with a fine spiciness that I also detect in Pinkus Spezial and makes it more memorable or recognizable. Sbtle and delicate aroma, but by no means boring. Taste is lightly bitter, very lightly sweet. Not too fizzy on the palate, with a nice aroma development on the palate. Light body, perfect for a Pilsener. Delicious and quaffable session beer!

Poured from bottle 4/16/13: Although labeled a Ur Pils, i expected more than a simple pilsner. Hay color, mod carbonation. 5.5 BD

Served from a bottle. Pours with a typical pils appearance, but with a weak head. Aroma: Light malts and grains with mild spicy hops. Flavor: follows the nose: this is mild even for style. Overall: a solid but unremarkable pils; well crafted but just too tame.

Clear straw coloured pour with quickly disappearing white head. Dry nose. Superlight body, grainy and slightly hoppy. Dry and bitter throughout. Quick easy finish.

Bottle from Liquor Depot (Dover, DE). Poured cloudy, thin white head. Aroma of grain, yeast and some citrus fruit notes. Taste is sweet, some malts in there, some grain and yeast; very decent bittersweet finish. Nice Pils.
