ElDesmadre (934) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 6, 2011
Bottle, sold as "Czarna Dziura". Also labelled a dark lager, but it tastes actually like a schwarzbier, one of the best I’ve had at that. Very dark brown, but unfortunately quickly dissipating head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is even better, quite dry with a moderate bitterness that is stronger than in most dark lagers and schwarzbiers I’ve tried. Taste itself is dark chocolate and coffee, some less roasted malts and very little caramel. All is very nicely put together with the bitterness, very slight sweetness and some nuts in the aftertaste.

Swaroga (788) - Brussels, BELGIUM - AUG 8, 2012
50cl bottle. I can’t see through it but it looks like dark brown/red with small tanned head. Nose : dark chocolate, coffee, smoked meat, soya sauce. Sip : low density body with water like texture. Sweet with nose aromas with bitter roasted malts. Aftertaste is light but comparable to light dark coffee. Overall it’s a genuine but provocative dark lager, well done.

*** POLISH BEER # 150 *** bottle, thank you Schroppfy! Deep black colour, large beige head. Malty flavours with lots of caramel and roasted malts, hints of cocoa powder, shy hints of espresso. Sy hop flavours in the lingering finish. More cocoa in the finish. Delicious.

Bottle, 4.5%. Mildly roasted aroma, hint of fruit, but not a problem. Black colour. Good stable light brown head. Good roasted flavour, creamy with just the right amount of horse and earth. Creamy aftertaste. Very good.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2011 New comment: In bottle this is similar to the draft version. I have had both many times now. In the bottle his beer loses essential parts of the body, although the carbonation is adequate. Down .1 from 3.6 to 3.5. Original on draft: To me this was a classic schwarz taste, milky, roasty, with moderate sweetness and only a touch of bitterness. Mild aroma of forest wet earth, bark, faint milk chocolate. Huge head, carbonation high and a bit out ofstyle but I liked it. Word is that the recipe will change...as this is thought to be too dunkleish, but I am not seeing it. Very dark, almost black. On tap at the opening of Piwoteka Narodowa.
