Not so long ago there was a war, an IBU war, in which breweries raced to brew a beer with more bitterness than anyone could imagine. During this dark period, IPAs seemed required to be bitter by definition, some people liked them, some people did not. Who knows the winner of that war, but thankfully it is finally over and it’s time for the new school of IPAs! These IPAs focus on the flavors and aromas of that glorious green cone… the hop…and not on melting your face with bitterness for no real reason. Man O’ War is a new school IPA! Bright tropical fruits and juicy citrus in the nose are followed by a mouthful of resiny citrus and just a wee bit of clean bitterness to balance it all out. Much less bitter than many IPAs out there, yet so much hoppier.

Draft at the source. Classic pine influence IPA. Fruit is here mildly but he pine is here in all its glory. Very simple and clean grain bill that gives just enough sweetness to balance the nice lingering pine. Bitterness is of a classic IPA, moderate and lingering. All pine here and done in the right manner. Nice !

Hazy bright yellow. Nose is floral and bright. Nice fruity notes but still a decent hop bite. Solid.

A little hard to get an aroma... sitting next to the kitchen. But I do get some floral hops. Pours a v pale gold color for the style with a nice thick head. Taste is a pretty sharp hop... really alpha, bit resiny, low malt. Not super easy to down. Really fresh. Sharp carb that fits well with the hops.

jars and jars . .. poured from the tap a medium amber .. . solid head, strong lacing .. . resin and straw, mild malt .. . easy drinker here .. . . I bet that puff of air in your eye test at the eye doctor’s office doesn’t even do anything. I bet they’re just a bunch of assholes.

Orange with a white head. The aroma and flavor have a ton of juicy citrus with some resinous pine. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
