4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Batch #197. Pours a hazy golden color with a two finger head that dissipates slowly and leaves. Good amount of carbonation coming off the glass. Smells of tons of pine, some lime, grapefruit, floral, some graininess, graham cracker from the malt. Tastes pretty much like it smells. Starts with some grapefruit, resinous pine, and a hint of lime. A slight graininess, along with graham cracker come through in the middle and balance the hops nicely, although the hops and the increasing lime flavor are still dominant. Finish brings more pine, grapefruit, and graham cracker, along with floral notes and much more lime flavor. As it warms, the lime flavor becomes much more pronounced and the finish becomes more dry. No alcohol detected at all. Very clean finish both in the flavor and in the mouthfeel. Creamy and sticky, yet clean mouthfeel with a medium body. The hefty carbonation adds to the clean finish and moves the beer along. Due to itís uniqueness and great finish, this version is right up there with the other great ninjas.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Pours hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Nose is huge citrus and lime with a sweet malty base that isnít cloying at all. Pretty gentle, with a touch of menthol and some pine tree. Taste is Christmas tree, lime juice, and a touch of grass. Sweet but balanced, with an herbal/pine hop finish. Light and slick, with medium carbonation. Really, really drinkable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very hazy golden with barely a cap of white head. A lot of lacing. Aroma is citrusy, spice and everything nice. A lot of grapefruit and lime. Some maltiness. The mouth is INTENSELY bitter. A lot of citrus here. The strong lime note is present again with an awesome spice balance. Leaves a slight burning feeling in the cheeks. Surprised this one is rated so low. I enjoyed it.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Interesting and different beer. I guess that's lime, but its a bit hard to decipher. Definitely something different about the beer. Kind of refreshing, but ultimately it just didn't come together.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. The pour is very light with some haze. The aroma is an interesting mix of hops and lime, very light and fresh. The taste is refreshing. The lime comes throughout very well. A winner here.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Golden yellow, minimal head. Sharp lemon peel, soapy, lemon Pledge. Citrus and hops bite the palate, still soapy, Clorox. Sigh.
Oh, Pipeworks. Would be more disappointing if I didn't already expect it to be awful.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - thanks Adam! Pours hazy butterscotch with a medium off white head that dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, cat piss. Flavor is about the same, minimal sweetness with a light bitterness initially that builds with drinking. Perhaps a zesty component to the bitterness due to the lime zest. Definitely more citrusy than typical for Simcoe. Medium body, somewhat oily and a bit hot. This is a beer that would wow a lot if brewed a year or two ago. Now, while very nice, it is just lost in the sea of first rate DIPAs on the market.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2013 Bottle. The lime is certainly noticeable in the aroma but thereís a hefty dose of tropical fruity hops as well, along with herbal undertones. Some light crackery malt in the scent too that will become much more apparent in the flavor department. The appearance is this murky gold color with a thin, but firm, off-white head. I was concerned, initially, that the lime would be overdone, but itís not. Thereís a lot of crackery malt flavor to this that seems to be the centerpiece of the flavors. Lime notes are here, along with citrus zest, and some tea leaves. Silky and soft in the body; more tangy than bitter. Pretty easy going down; my bottle didnít last as long as I thought it would. This is interesting and very solid stuff. Itís just odd enough to say, well, that itís a little odd. Perhaps different is a better word because I enjoyed this.
