Bottle: The aroma consists chocolate, citrus/grapefruit, pine, and light roasted coffee. It pours a dark brown with no transparency. It has a two finger tan head with excellent retention. There’s some nice ringed lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet/sugary chocolate. There is some sweet citrus and fruitiness in the middle. The finish has moderate grapefruit, pine, molasses, and some burnt notes.

Bottle thanks to a random guy at CCB. Poured a nice black color. Immediate aroma of coffee. I even get a little bourbon smell. The taste is small bodied in a good way.b some coffee. Coats the mouth and stays with you. The back end is the best part. Still taste the beer.

Dark brown pour, brown head. Quite roasty, a hint of a metallic flavor, but I still get a lot of nice chocolate notes, licorice, light smoke notes.

Batch 60. Bottle. Lots of coffee in the nose with some booze. Minimal light brown head. Initially a papery stale flavor. Slightly tart. Roasty towards the end. Hmmm. Interesting. Don’t think it held up well.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is a very dark brown with a tight light brown head. Nose is a light roast, some chocolate and vanilla notes, with a fair bit of sugary malt sweetness and berries. Body is thick and decadent. Roast is heavier, notes of chocolate and vanilla. Faint bitterness and the berry and slightly sugary malt accompany a semi dry finish.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A: Really dark and black, strong creamy light brown head with nice two finger head. Nice lacing that sticks.
S: First hit of aroma was espresso with some dark chocolate, and figs. Really pleasant smelling. Some alcohol
T: Again begins with the espresso and chocolate then moves to bittersweet cocoa, molasses, and some piney notes. A touch of alcohol at the end.
M: medium to full-bodied with a really nice creaminess that I enjoy.
O: Really nice beer, cant wait to try the fruit variations of this beer.

Sample from batch #100 at Kurtkeller 004: Pipeworks-tastic 01 on 01/18/2014. Black pour with a medium khaki head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of chocolate malt, coffee and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a cocoa and malt aftertaste. Solid Stout overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep black with a foam ring that hugs my glass. The aroma contains slight yeast, chocolate, roasted malts, and an undertone of hops. In the flavor I picked up on a medium lingering bitterness, hints of burnt carmel, mild roasted malts, and bitter cocoa. The booze is masked nicely. Overall I enjoyed this very much.
