Bottled. Pours opaque black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is pine, licorice, roasted malts, light cocoa and chocolate. The flavor hard roastedalt, pine, citrus, licorice and light chocolate. Great!

22oz bottle with a amusing label .. . Quite hot .. . pours black .. light foam .. . tar mostly, very boozy and messy .. . Not that good .. . . How have we not run out of cows yet? I’ve eaten at least a million and there’s not a shortage? But eat ONE Bald eagle and you’re an asshole..

Bomber to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good; a semi-opaque cola with thin off-white lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells, only better, with a nice, creamy mouthfeel. Good stuff!

Very waxed bottle and served in my Pipeworks snifter: Pours basically opaque with a fading tan head and left spotty lace upon the glassware. The aroma smacks down with lush liquorice, tar, leather, tobacco, roast, char, chocolate, espresso, and some resiny, catty and vinous hop kick. Smell very fresh, perhaps too green at this point. The taste is brash young aggressive hop bitterness over layers of heavy sticky sweet and toasty malts. Very earthy and very alpha acid driven! Anise, pepper and some clove round out the edges. Even a touch of smoke is found rumbling aboot. The mouth feel is sort of stuck between lush and sticky and lively and brash... yeah it is still a brash snotty boy that needs a timeout to chill the fuck out but the chance for growth is there for all to see.

Bottle courtesy of max at Andy’s. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is lots of roast and espresso. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of roast, coffee, light alcohol and sharpie marker.

22 oz bottle from Binnys Marcy (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer black hue, not opaque as some brownish light shows some deep elements, a glowing ruby midnight bottom and edges glow. Frothy darker brown head atop stays as a mellow layer, laces ok. Nice color on the head. Aromas are cocoa, dark fruit, and roast. Some biscuits, firm dry roast and dry earthy hops. Kiss of pine, gentle dark fruit, dark chocolate, roast, kiss of anise. Dry overall, roasty, toast and gentle wafts of toffee, dark black malts. More cocoa, coffee, and a touch of dark warmth, alcohol hits me a touch. Initial is medium bodied, getting thicker up front as I get into it. Roasty and toasty, cocoa, and some thicker sweetness, dark black malts up front. Dryness, firm roast, big dry hop presence, florals and pine. Growing cough syrup and red fruit backend, a bit of anise/NyQuil feel grows quickly. Some touches of cool alcohol like heat. Mellow roast grows, hops and medicinal element really play off each other in the middle and backend. Anise, dry hops, roast. This is not like the Abduction I remember from Homebrew/Pilot batches off the bat. Aromas and appearance are nice, but flavor falls for me, palate suffers from that really crazy medicinal/Anise/Dark fruit feel into the backend, which is quite frankly, not a feel I enjoy in the slightest. A solid big one, the hops and front end have some nice qualities. As it warms and settles, some mocha and espresso like roastiness come on up front more, but it’s just a mish mosh all around this bad boy. The backend and finish are distracting for me though, odd, and just not my thing. Overall, it’s ok. Some vindication from coffee, ash elements. But at times, anise, dryness, and medicinal and ABV interference hit me hard. I don’t know what to think really.. I look forward to the next batch.. A rerate seems necessary.

Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting 09/08/2014 Moncada Brewery. Opaque dark brown coloured pour with a lasting halo of light tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, soft roast, dark malts. Flavour is composed of layered malts, caramel ,unrefined sugars, roasty choc. Chalky water profile. Lingering tangy berry. Bit of jammy berry fruits. Semi -sweet.

Bottle: The aroma consists chocolate, citrus/grapefruit, pine, and light roasted coffee. It pours a dark brown with no transparency. It has a two finger tan head with excellent retention. There’s some nice ringed lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet/sugary chocolate. There is some sweet citrus and fruitiness in the middle. The finish has moderate grapefruit, pine, molasses, and some burnt notes.

Bottle shared by a friend as we were bottling some homebrew. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, raisin and lots of grassy hops. Malty and chocolatey flavor with some grassy hops before a roasty finish.

This poured a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was chocolates, roasted malt, and some herbal notes. Flavor was medium sweetness, chocolate dark, roasted grain and light soy.
