Tap @ Local Option: Basically opaque with not much head, oily tears. The aroma has a big vanilla, whisky, char, and oka overtone with moderate coffee, leather, tobacco, and chocolate vapours. The taste is quite heavy on the whisky and booze which overpowers the wonderful coffee notes of the base beer. The mocha and roast are nearly lost as well with a touch of pumpernickel bread. The mouth feel is aggressive and biting, quite warming and finishes much stronger than one would expect. Just too much barrel influence and dominates a beer I truly love, sorry this just did not come together.

This one poured a dark brown to black color with a tan head. Aroma was of bourbon, coffee, and roasted malt. Flavor was similar, barrel was minimal, coffee mainly, but nothing great from the base beer.

On tap at Local Option. Poured black with no head. Killer sweet bourbon vanilla aroma. Super smooth and oily. Perfect balance for a powerful BBA brew. Need to bottle!!!

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20
Pailhead (4607) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - NOV 16, 2013
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy bourbon, chocolate, light coconut, coffee, and a hint of apple. Itís a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head. The flavor starts with a quick dose chocolate and light maple syrup. It finishes with moderate-heavy bourbon, vanilla, and a hint of roasted coffee. Itís medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, itís very bourbon forward, but it happens to work for me.
