There once was a beardo named Beejay, who craved a brown ale brewed all cray cray. He gathered ever Nelson Sauvin hop and a grain bill that no one could stop to brew a caramel-rich ale with juicy hops on the inhale. He drank much of it in, and exclaimed with a grin, "Hooray!". A brown ale as strangely good as ol Beejay!

From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Strong hoppy malty flavor with a lingering finish.

A: A light colored brown ale, more of a real dark red. Brilliantly clear. Nice thin bubbly white head that doesn’t linger too much. Great lacing S: Really interesting and unique aroma, smells of some grapefruit and earthyness, grape with faint cherry/raspberry with a smell of a chocolate covered strawberry. Some roast and plastic as well. T: Nice bitterness upfront then fades with a grape, chocolate roast, with faint cherry and plastic like qualities, and earthy. which fits the profile nicely. Alcohol noticeable. M: For a brown ale not overly sweet, nice and crisp. Alcohol burn on the tongue. O: Nice change of pace from the DIPA’s, and interesting take on a brown ale.

Bottle. Pours brown with tan head. Nose and taste of toffee malt, caramel, grapefruit, coffee, resin and citrus. Finishes with a touch of toast and pine resin. Very hoppy for the style. Works pretty well. Medium body.

Bottle at Jerry’s. Clear brown with good, frothy beige head, decent lacing / Nose of roast grain, chocolate, pine, citrus / Medium to full body, biting hops, some sweetness, good balance with lots of bitterness on finish / Flavors of chocolate, caramel, pine, weed, grapefruit, orange rind / Excellent flavor profile, very double ipa like with big hop bite.

Pours amber brown with a decent beige head. Aroma is juicy, unique orange like Nelson hop notes. After that though, I realize that this blend is not my style unfortunately, I really wanted to like it. The flavor brings big root flavors with biting raw Nelson not settling well on my palate.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear nut brown with less than a finger of khaki head. Aroma is loads of citrus and a little toffee. Taste is light bitter. Citrus and tropical fruits with a hint of toffee. Full bodied with a slightly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, awesome. Another homerun from Pipeworks.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted, nutty, and chocolate malts plus some floral and fruity hop notes and light alcohol. Flavor the same with a decent blend between the brown ale and the NZ hops. Average texture. A weird but interesting beer. Not bad but not great.

Bottle served in PW snifter: Pours a medium brown with a nice head and good lace. The aroma has notes of roast, toffee, caramel, vanilla, white wine, piney resin and some initial Diacetyl esters. The taste has a lovely roasted bready malt character with a clash of unique hop bitterness and undertones. It took me a bit to get used to it but then I really dug the complexity. Overall I would gladly drink this again but must say the buttery notes are a tad alarming since I have found them in a few of the latest offerings.

Bottle shared at Patty and Jay’s Mead Party. Thanks! Pours a nice deeper brownish hue, a bit darker in the middle. Some gentle brownish glow on the edges, touches of orange and but brown. Decent frothy offwhite head dies down to a mellow frothy layer, laces small. Aromas are a firmer hopping, Nelson meet brown malts, touches of toast, earth, and gentle spiciness. Firmer dryness meets some biscuits, gentle toastiness, mellow spice. Initial is a bit toasty, medium bodied meets a firm touch of creaminess, toast, caramel. Some gentle spice, firmer hopping. Decent creaminess, not spicy, with some mellow hops. Brown malts, some caramel, gentle toast. Sweetness and a bit of girth in the body. Backend a bit spicy, firm brown malt and earthy. Sweeter caramel, some earthy, pretzels and toffee. Finish is a bit hoppy, still some girth. Not bad.
