One sip of this.aggressively hopped red ale clearly reveals what drives these, the greatest of, hop heads of lore. Is this the end of the mythical horned horse? Bottle shared with Andrew and kramer back at the hotel after THE FESTIVAL 2013. Pours an amber body with light lacing. Aroma is sweet pine hop, caramel malt, light alcohol and spice. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of pine, sweet & sticky resin character, spice, and lots of sweet caramel malt. Light booze towards the finish.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is bitter resiny hops with a fairly heavy caramel malt base. The flavor is heavy caramel malt with not a whole lot of sweetness. Bitter resiny hops with a lingering bitter finish. Fairly heavy alcohol content, very warming finish. Medium bodied with a sticky clingy finish and fizzy carbonation. Ok, but not something that I’d seek out.

Pours a deep mahogany with a half finger head that dissipates slowly. Had aromas of licorice, alcohol, cherries, raisins, and citrusy hop notes. Taste had a lot going on. Lots of malty flavors, and a bitter finish. None of it seemed to mesh very well, almost like these flavors were not compatible. I wasn’t impressed by this one.

Pour is a dull brown. The aroma is sweet. A little over carbonated a flavor is a little light compared to the nose. Decent, not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The red ale is really the shining light of this brew! It stands up well to the hops. I still get TONS of hops which is great! Solid malt backbone that does not over power the beer! Love it!

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bomber. Murky amber pour with a cream colored head. Awesome resin hop profile, smooth palate, full palate - terrific!

Amber pour with a khaki head. Caramel malt sweetness, some fruity hops, and a nice floral character. Pine, citrus peel, and a bit of rye bread. The flavor is malty up front with caramel, toast, and sugar. Sweet fruit, grapefruit, and some pine bitterness.

Really, really impressive imperial red ale from Pipeworks. Everything I’ve had from them so far is super top notch. Pours a dark crimson, with little to no head. Viscous and thick, hoppy, and complex. A real treat.

Batch 141. Pours dark amber into tulip. Decent foamy head from pour. Tons of hops on the nose, kinda of orangy and piney also. Beer is very light with a hoppy and bitter finish that hangs around to go with the maltyness. Pretty well carbonated. Suprised this is labeled as a red ale, not a DIPA, but reds can have a hoppy profile as well. Would like a little less bitterness but still good.

22oz shared by Cliff, Thanks man. This is a surprisingly tasty brew, big and chewy but nicely hopped and quaffable, I drank it. I dug it.
