Bottle from Binnys. Poured black with decent dark tan head/lace. Resinous coffee aroma like Dayman. Bitter resin tar taste that sticks to the tongue. Quite smooth.

Pours a dark black color with a huge, deep tan, creamy head. Aroma has a good dose of hefty roasted malt, modest chocolate, smooth toasted notes, light raisin with some resin and citrus hops in the nose. Flavor starts off with a nutty, deep roasted malt presence, light licorice, very creamy, almost milky feel and a light/modest hops kick. Body is dense with a slightly oily feeling. Overall a pretty tasty brew. Would definitely have again. Looks like it was batch #27..kinda smeared so hard to tell.

Bottle. Pours deep black with a large creamy brown head and great lacing. Aroma is pine resin, light citrus, roasted malt. Flavor is the same, hoppy and roasty, notes of chocolate, date. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - AUG 16, 2013
Aroma is a great hop presence of sharp west coast pine and resin with a great roast coffee behind it. Pours black with a nice light khaki head. Tastse is very hoppy with great pine resin and a grass sting. The hops give way to a very roasty stout. Notes of bitter ground coffee and roasted malt. Best of both worlds.

Bottle, thnx to Themicuda1971. Has a pitch black colour with a big, tanned head on top, consisting out of big bubbles and has very decent lacing. Aroma is big and roasty with hoppy touches, as well as molasses and grapefruit. Flavour starts of sweet with loads of licorice and a touch of booze, but ends nice and hoppy. Very well balanced between hops and malts and the licorice makes the mouthfeel very dry and bittersweet. Great brew!

jmgreenuk (6968) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - AUG 5, 2013
Bottle courtesy of MrHangover. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a thin tan head and lots of unbroken lace. The aroma is rich roasted malt and liqourice alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate palate with lots of liqourice and rich red berry fruit and alcohol too. This is a big beer that is fully deserving of its rating.

Nearly opaque black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, pine, cocoa, floral hops, and light citrus. Taste of roast, cocoa, smoke, dark fruits, pine, tobacco, and light grapefruit in the finish.

Damico (3119) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 29, 2013
Pours dark unclear black with a light cocoa head. Aroma brings big bittersweet, piney, and some lemon hops over the roasted malt notes. Body is solid, not too thick, just about right for the ABV. There is a nice base of roasted malts, but the hops are dominant in the flavor as well.

Nose was filled with smoke & bark. Hints of caramel and other sweet notes. Pours very dark brown. Thin but constant head. Sticks. Taste starts and ends very different. Initial taste is crisp and a bit sweet. Finish is caramel, malt, with earthy notes. Leaves your mouth heavy. Great beer overall.
