Bottle courtesy of MrHangover. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a thin tan head and lots of unbroken lace. The aroma is rich roasted malt and liqourice alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate palate with lots of liqourice and rich red berry fruit and alcohol too. This is a big beer that is fully deserving of its rating.

Nearly opaque black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, pine, cocoa, floral hops, and light citrus. Taste of roast, cocoa, smoke, dark fruits, pine, tobacco, and light grapefruit in the finish.

Pours dark unclear black with a light cocoa head. Aroma brings big bittersweet, piney, and some lemon hops over the roasted malt notes. Body is solid, not too thick, just about right for the ABV. There is a nice base of roasted malts, but the hops are dominant in the flavor as well.

Nose was filled with smoke & bark. Hints of caramel and other sweet notes. Pours very dark brown. Thin but constant head. Sticks. Taste starts and ends very different. Initial taste is crisp and a bit sweet. Finish is caramel, malt, with earthy notes. Leaves your mouth heavy. Great beer overall.

22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Batch 93. Date on bottle reads 3/12/13. Very dark brown color. Brown head. Good splotches of lace. Nice earthy herbal hop flavor. I like that a lot. The kind of hop profile I like to see in my Black IPAs. More dark chocolate, roast malts in the finish. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky, but more on the chewy side. Hint of citrusy hop, hint of coffee. This is good. Awesome hoppy stout. Has a lot of the black IPA characteristics that I really like. Delicious.

Shared with DrSilverworm. Pours a deep dark brown with two fingers of light brown head. The smell is rich and malty with hints of coffee and chocolate as well as hops. The taste is superb with a sharp hop presence up front finishing with a rich roasted flavor with hints if coco and bitter coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, batch 93. Pours near black with thick, lasting, tan head and bubbly seam foam lace. Nose of roasted malt, coffee, booze, pine. Medium to full body, all roasted malt, boozy as hell and astringent.

22oz bomber. Pours a dark black color with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate and caramel malts. Taste is rich roasted coffee, dark chocolate, some vanilla, and piney hop bitterness. More of a hoppy stout then a black IPA, but pretty tasty.

22 oz bottle from De Bierkoning, batch 57. Pitch black color. Beige/mocha colored head, sticky, but uneven. Aroma’s: pine/resin at first with dark chocolate, roasted malts, ground coffee. Pine diminishes a bit and there’s molasses retronasal as well. Flavor is bitter, acidic, roasted, chocolate. Body is going towards medium, actually a bit on the thin side. Finishes with hard roasted malts and a long lasting bitterness.
