UPDATED: APR 13, 2014 Pours a pitch black with a half finger of bubbly head that lingers. Almost no carbonation...that is visible. Decent lacing. Nose is very roasty and boozy witg Malt, coffee, Dark chocalate and vanilla. Mouth is also incredibly roasty. There is a decent alcohol bite, but it’s masked perfectly. A great hop bite, but despite its presence, this is not a black IPA. All stout here.

22oz bomber. Big minty chocolate aroma, big specialty malt. Thick, sugary mouthfeel. Steady green citrus, piny hops. Rich chocolate tones, a touch minty. Roasty coffee, oily big flavors. Nice offering.

Bomber from trade with dfonorow. Thanks! Awesome appearance. Pours pitch black with a big foamy head that fades normally and leaves some oily webbing. Huge aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, tobacco, orange and pine. Taste is very roasty, chocolaty and hoppy all at once. Intense bitterness somehow balances with the deep roast and dark chocolate. Tobacco, citrus, and pine all show up in the long finish. Thick and oily mouthfeel with a slight chalkiness too. Overall, this is great stuff. I really love a good Black IPA and this is right up there with my favorites.

Bottle, batch 23, 05/13/2013. Pours black with a big, dense, light tan head, lacing left behind as the head fades a bit. Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malts, coffee bitterness, with resinous orange, pine hops dominating towards the finish, bright and fruity. Taste has pleasant, citrus caramel hops up front, piney edge, smooth chocolate and roasted malts serve to accentuate, long bitter finish, bit of coffee. Full, nearly creamy body, not overly sticky. Pretty nice, good balance here.

Deuce, batch #23. Pours a solid black with a tall dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate and boozey. Taste is bitter roasted coffee, dark chocolate, piney, earthy hops, lots of bitterness. Really well executed mix between a strong stout and some massive hops.

Sampled at 4 Hand’s Lupulin Fest 2013 - Pours black with a tan head. The aroma has roasty malt, coffee, dark caramel, cream and earthy hops. It has a medium / full body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with very roasty malt, smooth cocoa and earthy / spicy hops. The finish has earthiness, coffee and resin. Quite nice.

Black with big, creamy, brown head, good legs / Bright, fruity nose of cut pine, citrus, roast grain, coffee / Full body, chewy, touch of sweetness upfront but then dry with fine, bitter finish / Dry, dusty flavors of dark roast coffee, roast grain, unsweetened chocolate, tobacco, pine, orange, licorice, plum, prune / A great, big, dry stout.

Batch#57 bomber poured jet black into Duvel tulip leaving a thick 1 finger very dark khaki/brown head with some decent lacing. Piney hops on the nose followed by some dark chocolate notes Hops again up front hitting the tongue then some creamy roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate wrapping up with the piney hops coming back on the finish. Malts became more pronounced as the hoppy double stout warmed up balancing the beer abit more. Liked it the more I drank it. Good shtuff.

bottle. blackish brown pour, small brownish head. Resiny piney hops outweigh the roasted malt backbone. Great hop profile, solid mouthfeel. Very nice Black IPA

Smokey pretty thin body. Oily. Balanced. I couldn’t drink too many of these...kind of wreck the palate.
