Maybe no one believed you the last time you encountered the stellar contact between hop and roasty malt character, but succumb to a new stout trek. The imperial strikes back with a fuller body and U-F-Ohhhh so many hops. Set your phasers to stunning - because this is the most out of htis world hopped up stout on earth.

Very nice, even after the plead the fifth I just had. Pours black with good mocha head and lacing. Big roast, dark chocolate, some booze and a hint of orange peel even. Thick consistency. Tap at Local Option.

6oz pour from a 22oz bottle. I had the Close Encounter a while back, so I am very much looking forward to this amped up version. Black color. Thin brown head. Leaves slightly loose bits of lace. In the nose there’s biscuity, cookie-like malt, as well as earthiness and a hint of pine. Up front in the flavor, much more earthy hop and piney hop comes forward, with a lot more roast malt too, some dark chocolate and a nice amount of coffee. Bigger sweet taste, moderate to bigger bitter, very mild sweet bite in the finish. Bigger body. Mildly slick. Good chewiness. Seems more stout-like than the Close Encounter, maybe it’s the bigger malt base. Lighter carbonation. Overall, very tasty, fun stuff to try.

Bottle. Pours black with a light brown head. I could smell the hops before I lifted the glass to my nose. Aroma is of hops, chocolate, roasted malt, and licorice. Big hop character to balance it out. Very sticky mouthfeel. As it warms up, even more of the hops come through. Shit, it’s good.

Bottle. Pour is black with a small beige head that fades quickly. Aroma and flavor is similar to a black IPA - citrus hops, chocolate malt, roast, slight licorice, and resin. Finish has a bit of booze coming through.

This is one hoppy imperial stout. Starts sort of boozy with a bitter hoppy boozy finish. Has a fruity sweetness to it. Had a bottle pour out if a bomber at home. Pours black in color with a tan head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

With Z , pours a pitch black color with a nice Java head. Nose is hoppy, with a bit of malt. Complex taste somewhere between a black IPA and a stout, with deep chocolate malt and a hoppy citrusy taste.... nevertheless a delicious favor. Finish is bitter sweet with a chooclate citrusy finish. Another great beer from one of my favorite microbreweries. quaff score 9 / 10

Bomber. Pours black with a brown head and hoppy, fruity aroma with roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is strong, nice hoppy bitterness with citrus flavors along with lots of roasted malt, liquorice, and chocolate into the bitter finish. Delicious, flavorful brew

Bomber pours a dark brown/black with a medium reddish tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, and faded hops. Bitter hops present upfront in taste, smooth chocolate, with sweet slick molasses. Nice!

Bottle... Pours black with a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The bouquet is chocolaty, roasty and nutty. Full-bodied with vibrant carbonation. The flavor is bitter, resiny, charred and piney. Finishes scorched and bitter. Bottle courtesy of BBB63!

Appearance: Pours black with a sudsy tan ring around the edges.

Aroma: Herbal hop nose, coffee roast, light wet dog.

Taste: Herbal and citrusy hops, bitter chocolate/bitter black coffee, chocolate orange. Alcohol fairly hidden.

Mouthfeel: Slick, full bodied, a little oily. Modest carbonation.

Overall: A pretty tasty hoppy stout, probably the best one I’ve tried to date. I’m starting to pick up on Pipeworks house character across all their stouts too.
