3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark roasted coffee on the nose--not much else. Black with cinnamon-colored head. Tastes of freshly brewed coffee--hey, who’d have guessed? The coffee flavor itself is more chocolatey (again, obviously) than berry/fruity like, but it is very bitter. Finishes harsh and bitter, with lingering aftertaste of...coffee.

650 mL bottle. Love their names and labels. Not much head. Has coffee, vanilla, and roast in the nose, but it doesn’t smell huge. The flavour is pretty well balanced up front, with coffee and vanilla, and caramel sweetness balancing the mild roast and booze. Needs a little more roast, actually. Finishes quickly. None of the flavours overwhelm the others. Nice, but not great.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a really well done Coffee Imperial Stout. There is an acrid, heavily roasted note that is reminiscent of a fresh pot being made in a Mr Coffee machine. Maybe not as bold and refined as others in its’ field, this still holds up exceptionally well. Clocks in at over 10% but goes down almost too well, with a medium-full body. So not as syrupy or thick as you might imagine.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of roasted malt, wood, whiskey, vanilla, dark chocolate. Strong alcoholic whiskey taste with roasted malt and chocolate, fruity finish, with a robust roast and wood aftertaste. Beats the Danish Red Wine edition.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle pours dark brown-black with small head. Nose is old wet coffee grounds and burnt roasty malt. Taste is roasty stale coffee, earthy dark coffee beans, some milk chocolate, subtle vanilla, nice smooth palate. There is a strange vegetal note mid way through the taste but it finishes with pretty good earthy roast coffee, creamer, and mocha notes. Something just a bit off here.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by JBPortland ! Pours a deep umber color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose ebbs and flows with sweet chocolate sauce, creamy coffee and boozy abrasiveness. Flavors roll along with layers of chocolate sauce, green coffee, vanilla creme... but there is something a touch artificial about it that Im not completely digging.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Strong coffee aroma. Pour is black with quickly dissipating tan head. Initial taste of coffee with a high APV burn. Sweet finish. Minimal carbination. Would’ve liked a few more bubbles. If you don’t like coffee you won’t like this beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared bomber, poured to snifters, and displayed a darkest brown color, with a modest layer of tan head foam, and light dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was subtle, but noticeable enough notes of roasted malt, mocha, and vanilla. Medium bodied, with low carbonation, low hop bitterness, hidden alcohol, and pleasant sweetness into the finish. Not wowed, but decently drinkable.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark pour with an espresso colored head. Aroma is a lovely combo of vanilla, coffee, chocolate malt, and light roast. Taste is delicious with vanilla, coffee, roast, wood, and rock candy. Really solid imp stout.
