Pretty good, actually. Fresh cup of (average quality) coffee per glass blends well into the base. Solid.

Bomber. Pours a thick (think 10W30 thick) brown-black, opaque with thin (and rapidly disappearing) espresso colored head. Nose is dark roast malts and some strong Joe, hints of cocoa. Mouth is thick and oily, semisweet up front with malty backbone highlighted by coffee, some vanilla, caramel and bakers chocolate. Finish is long and lingering bittersweetness. Let it snow, and let the aliens come... I’m ready for both of em. ;-)

(sample courtesy of Yespr) Pours black with little toffee head that recedes quickly. Little regeneration. Aroma is dark and roasted malt with coffee notes and some herbal, hoppy hints. Creamy texture, full body, soft carbonation and a lightly sweet finish. Flavour is dark roasted malt with notes of oak and coffee and otherwise follows the nose.

Jet black pour with no head. Sweet candy aroma. Taste is full of chocolate, molasses and espresso. Super thick mouth and very creamy. Taste is full of candy. Slight alcohol burn. Long espresso finish. Really damn good!

Bottle. The pour is dark with a very light brown head that fades quickly. The aroma is coffee in your face, with some malt that comes through. The taste is very nice. Thicker than I was expecting, The coffee is not overpowering, a little boozy. Very nice beer.

Bomber in a trade. Split into two snifters. Pitch black with mocha head. Good coffee here with the malty backbone.

Bomber. A pitch black beer with a large, frothy/creamy, mostly lasting brown head. The aroma is modeartely to heavily malty (roasted grain, coffee, chocolate), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with notes of alcohol, licorice, hint of berries and vanilla. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Full body, oily/creamy texture, soft carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness, moderately alcoholic. I wouldn’t say I’m surprised by the high quality, but all the other Pipeworks bottle scored approximately in the mid 3s or less. This one is pretty nicely balanced, without overbearing coffee, booze or sweetness. I was just in the mood for it. Pity for the price and the difficult availability.
