COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What we’ve got you will definitely want to get and put it in you. Dates, Sugar, Yeast, Magik is a Belgian Dubbel brewed in collaboration with Cleetus Friedman of The Fountanheqd and inspired by the classic album of the nineties. Ample amounts of dates, Belgian candi, and dark demerara sugars and Trappist ale yeast will take you to the place you love (take you all the way) and make it difficult to give it away (even your momma, your pappa, or your daughter.)

The dubbel that drinks like a quad. My bottle didn’t have carbonation issues, I got bubbles and a fizzy tang on the tongue, but this is supposed to be lightly carbonated I think. And it is. Makes it very creamy, very sweet, nothing really balances out the sweetness. But it tastes great, all the quad flavors of banana/clove/bubblegum I love. Appearance is a rich brown. I won’t get another bottle, but I really enjoyed this one.

Bottle... Pours clear and copper with a brief, off-white head. The aroma offers toastiness, dates and other dark fruits, farmhouse yeast-driven spiciness and black bread. Full-bodied and sticky with tingly carbonation. The flavor is farmhouse-spicy and roasty followed by more dates and other dried dark fruits. Roasty, bitter, tongue-numbing finish. Bottle courtesy of BBB63!

Sample at Kurtkeller 004: Pipeworks-tastic 01 on 01/18/2014. Great label. The beer pours a mostly clear brownish-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, malt and yeast. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy yeast and raisins. The finish is fruity with a Belgian candi and yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

22oz bottle shared by beerpig317. Mmm.. Very nice dark fruit, dates, belgian yeast, light candy sugar, some banana... Nice aroma. Murky brown copper color. Head fades to minimal, no lace. Nice bigger body. Smooth, kind of dry texture. Lighter, kind of smooth carbonation. Very smooth and easy drinking. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Lightly spicy. Light candy sugar. Very tasty dubbel, dates work wonderfully here. One of the better dubbels I’ve tried.

22 oz. bottle shared by beerpig317- thanks again, Bunker! Pours a hazed amber color with a small beige ring for a head. Aroma of date sugar, anise, caramel, toast, candied nuts- sugary, sweet, and a little spicy. The flavor is the same. Dark fruits and sugars. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a sweet, dry mouthfeel. Interesting take on a dubbel.

Hazy dark red - amber - brown beer. Small cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and dry with fine carbonation. Smooth malt base, a little cream. Sweet generic candy fruits with cherry rising to the top and becoming identifiable. Well integrated spice provides a counterpoint but overall this is a sweet sweet beer. Finishes smooth. Certainly drinkable but not in big quantaties!

Bomber at Jerry’s. Murky caramel with scant, beige head, no legs / Sweet, boozy nose of dark fruit, banana, caramel, / Medium to full body, a touch thin, sweet but with solid hop balance, light burn on finish / Flavors of date, raisin, caramel, orange, turning apple, banana, sherry, clove / Well intentioned, and enjoyable, but doesn’t quite come together.
