3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a nice dark roast coffee color with a frothy off white head. A nose of mild spice and spiciness. I dig the mouthfeel on this not super thick and rich just a great medium bodied stout. Flavor is full of tobacco and cinnamon, chile heat comes in towards the end and sticks around. The spice definitely builds as you go and Iím into it. Pipeworks is two for two for me and I canít wait until they are three for three.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle shared by b3shine. Pours dark brown in color with a medium sized foamy khaki head. The aroma has roasted malt, fruity, lightly spicy pepper enhanced nicely with spicy cinnamon and vanilla with some chocolate is also coming through. The flavor has more roasted malts, ancho chili burn, some fruity pepper, cinnamon, milk chocolate with a hint of vanilla. The body is on the thin side for the style and would help to improve the rating of this. The ramped up version proved to be better.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with little to no head. Aroma is full of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon. Didnít really detect the chillies. The texture if very light and thin. Not heavy. Taste is full of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and only a very slight taste of chillies at the end. Not a very intense spice at all. Pretty good, iíd buy it again.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz. bottle served in a mini taster snifter. Bottled February 25, 2012.
A: Pours a black color with brown edges. A thin off white head forms on the pour and dissipates to a thin ring.
S: Smells of strong cinnamon, light vanilla, some lactose sugar and some pale malts.
T: More emphasis on the cinnamon and the ancho chilis finally come out with a nice warming finish.
M: Super thin, almost bordering on watery. There is a slight pepper heat on the finish.
O: I had this on tap at Stout Fest and it was fuller bodied and more flavorful. Iím not sure if there some variation between the bottle and the kegs they have, but seek it out on tap if you can.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle from West Lakeview a while back. Pours a deep, dark, brown color with with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, a little ancho. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, roasty, chocolate, vanilla, maybe a little cinnamon, with a spicy, ancho finish that tickles the back of the throat. Thereís a lot going on in this beer. Almost too much I think. But if you like chilie stouts, itís worth a try.
