4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours coffee-black with a tan, persistent head. Smells of melted chocolate. Tastes of melted chocolate, light on roasted malts.Overall, good but lacks the greatness of a tighter expression of the style.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Pours murky and dark brown with a fleeting, lightly tanned head. Smells like a Snickers bar - milk chocolate, caramel, roasted peanuts and a vanilla component that is a fitting substitute for nougat. Unfortunately, a bit of oxidation transforms toasted tree nuts into peanuts, but seems totally appropriate in this case. Full-bodied and silken with soft carbonation. The flavor is deeply roasted and bittersweet, boasting dark chocolate and espresso. Warming, but not all that boozy in the burnt marshmallow finish. Thanks to BBB63 for shipping this bottle my way!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very opaque dark brown with a light tan head. Bright coffee notes, chocolate, molasses. Some light spiciness, cinnamon, nutmeg. Quite sweet, decent amount of bitterness. Alcohol is reasonably upfront. Exceedingly creamy mouthfeel, heavy body, decent amount of acidity. Long finish. Quite good.

This is a very boozy rich and sort of sweet double stout. Has a nice hopy bitter finish. Smells boozy. Pours black in color with a thick brown head. Had a bomber pour at home.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after a frigid 3 mile run on the day I cancelled cable, and I’m scared. I think this is one of the best bottle arts I’ve seen. Appearance is thick pitch black with a thin off white rim. Aroma is strong in cacao nibs, vanilla, lots of lactose and chocolate, very much a dessert beverage. Taste is pretty damn good, nice flavor, dark dark chocolate/cacao, great vanilla mixture, very much enjoyable. I’m a big fan of Pipeworks stouts, and this one does not disappoint.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at the DC Pre-Thanksgiving tasting. Thanks to Travlr. Poured a dark brown color with a small light tan head. Aroma was boooze, light chocolates. I joked that it had "more booze than there are saphires in Tarth." Not that boozy, but alcohol is apparent here. Roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla notes.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Caramelized malt, with some roast. Brown pour with ok head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Not my thing - a little too syrupy for my liking. Bottle shared by Travlr.
