UPDATED: MAR 17, 2013 Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Perfumy, citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a sweet fruitiness, thick citrusy, piney hops leading to a bitter finish. Quite nice if a little hot. 150313

22 oz. bottle shared at Blake’s tasting the other night. Not sure who brought it- Vince? Anyway, thanks everyone! Pours a semi-clear golden color with a minimal white head. Aroma of herbal hops, sweet malts, sugar, vanilla, and melon fruits. Flavor of herbal and tropical fruit hop character, pale malts, cream, and some grass. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. Not my favorite kind of DIPA but well done.

Purchased at Binnys in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home prior to playing a show at a dive bar. Appearance is a bright, very slightly cloudy gold with a rich white head, looks fantastic. Aroma is rich in citrus hops, also floral & pine notes, the smell is pretty potent and great. Taste is also fantastic, abundant citrus and orange peel notes, there is a faint caramel malt backing which is also somewhat bready, really great stuff.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with 2 fingers of fluffy off-white head and lacing. Aroma is fresh pineapple, mango, citrus, pine and sweet caramel malt. Full body, more caramel malt up front than I expected with a piney finish. Moderate bitterness.

Fresh hops; earthy, dry, floral. Plenty of malt to balance. Good but not great. Best beer from Pipeworks so far, though that isn't exactly a compliment.

651mL shared at the RBWG Grand Tasting. Excited to finally try this. Clear, light golden pour. Medium white foam leaves webby sheets of lacing. Nose is sweet cantaloupe and ripe mango, sugary, tropical. Taste is dusty, papery, nutty, walnut bitterness. Sort of the typical East Coast IPA in body, though perhaps not super fresh. But there is no cheesecloth giveaway to staleness. Palate is dusty, chalky, papery. Liked the Galaxy Unicorn better.

22 ounce bottle
This was a request from a local so I grabbed a bottle after seeing it on the shelf at Binny’s. For $10 it does a good job of setting itself apart from a crowded Chicago lineup that includes Daisy Cutter as well as the vast array of Three Floyd’s hop bombs.
Aroma / Appearance - Semitransparent liquid builds with a coppery base and clean white head. Polished waxy floors, grapefruit, and a lawn beginning to bud in spring welcomes more reflection. This is not mild at all.
Flavor / Palate - Resins and melons grate on the palate like drinking sandpaper. Malty undertones keep it from going too far astray. Sharp and hoppy the ultimate result is a bitter warming feel. This is an excellent beer that had me looking forward to the other two Pipeworks beers sitting in the fridge.
