4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Was expecting a bit more orange in this but was plesently surprised with what they did here. The orange is not overpowering and it makes for one hell of a delicious imp stout. Lots of chocolate in the nose and taste and the orange is there as a perfect accompaniment. Well done pipeworks.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is chocolate. Taste is chocolate, smooth, a bit of sweetness in the orange. Aftertaste is still a bit sharp, better than the base beer alone.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle batch 217-218. Dark brown close to black, medium sized diminishing light brown head. Strange damn nose, orange peel and wort. Flavor is pleasant though. Lots of oranges, roasted malt, sugar, ash, chocolate in the finish. Light acidic, light astringency in the finish. Medium/full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Warming alcohol and some light stinging on the gums. Orange burps bring back memories of Mikkeller/Hill Farmstead Daybreak which gave me quite a boner. This isn’t up there, it isn’t as full and rich, but I think the orange works well in chocolate dominated imperial stouts, in this case it just seems a bit simple. The label is cool, know that feeling.
