Bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a film of light brown head and a rich, smoky, spicy aroma. Smells enough like pastrami to make you want some. Flavor is richly spicy upfront developing more malty sweet before finishing bitter. Quite complex, the spice profile is aggressive, but to my tastes very nice.

22 ounce bottle
I picked this up a while ago on a trip to Chicago. So far I am very impressed with Pipeworks output. The local market is a tough one in which to carve a niche but they are doing it. Those of you who get to try their stuff fresh and on draft are lucky. Personally I cannot wait for them to shake up the GTMW (hopefully with no line).

Aroma / Appearance - The fluid reddish black base had a fringe of ochre head. Smoke, rye, and corned beef are accompanied by this strong spicy aspect. It’s not overwhelming but it smells like eating a well crafted reuben at Manny’s while inhaling light cigarette smoke.

Flavor / Palate - Smoke and rye stand out at first. Soon though a meaty transition smokes the back of the throat. Like a mouthful of liquid pastrami it hangs on the tongue. A soft carbonated finish is like a grocery store brand cola. This is a fine change of pace from the usual and a great reward for the adventurous.

Bottle. Dark cloudy brown color, medium off white head. Aroma of an Irish pub in Manhattan during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (a boyhood recollection of corned beef and pastrami sandwiches). Taste is subtle, complex, peppery, roasty. Very tasty.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of spice with the caraway and mustard seed coming through with a bit of rye and smoke malts. Flavor starts with spice of light mustard, caraway and peppercorn with a good amount of backing smoked malt and just a hint of rye. Drinks nicely.

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of rye, fruitiness, pepper and caramel. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, caramel, pepper and fruitiness with a crisp dry lingering rye finish.
