3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Batch 40:Pours a clean gold with no head, nose is of grass and spice. I must have gotten a bad bottle as there was no carbonation at all, other than that it was a great beer. I liked how the spices were scaled back on this beer a bit. It was more balanced than previous similar incarnations. Add carbonation to this bottle and it would have been a grand slam.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Batch 24 bomber. A big nose with complex spices that range from black pepper to ginger. A medium bodied beer that drives notes of ginger, white pepper, and the big Sichuan pepper that picks up mid palate through the long finish. Great beer!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a hazed gold with a huge white head. Beautiful nose, lovely yeast, spicy pepper, and even the ginger makes an appearance. This smells awesome. Medium bodied, spicy pepper up front, nice black pepper, spicy yeast. Moves to a lingering black pepper feel on the finish, another faint touch of ginger. This is lovely. Well done guys.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle served in a Southern Tier imperial glass. Batch #24
A: Pours a hazy golden amber color with a slow dissolving two finger height of white foam. It settles down to a thin ring. Some splotches of lace are left down the glass.
S: Definite yeasty notes up front with some mild must and fruity esters. The faintest hints of peppers are there on the finish of each sniff and it leaves a nice, fresh smell in the nose. Not overpowering in the least bit. Light cracker malts, but the yeast and pepper dominate the show.
T: Sichuan pepper upfront in the flesh state. The middle definitely gives way to the bready yeast, slight must and fruity esters. Mild sweetness in the middle as well from the malts, but the taste quickly leaves the palate which is sort of a let down. I was hoping for some aspect of the flavor, be it the peppers or the yeast, to stick around a little longer. As the beer warms more of the spiciness comes out and does linger around a little longer.
M: Light to medium bodied with a nice medium carbonation level. The finish is rather light and slightly watery. Easily drinkable.
O: I enjoyed the Poivre Rose more as I felt it was a beer with peppercorns as opposed to beer and peppers. I felt the taste was slightly disjointed and the yeast fought the sichuan peppers the whole way. It was still an easily drinkable saison, though, and Iím definitely excited for more to come in the Poivre series as I love the experimentation.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
poured from bottle into a tulip, Pours a hazy gold color with a very foamy head.
Really good and complex aromas of spices, florals, pears, and mangoes. Very nice depth to it, though I think that the smell isnít for everyone.
Medium bodied with a very good feel. Itís a little lighter than Iíd like with nice flavors of mangoes, pears, and spices.
An enjoyable saison. I wouldíve liked a creamier feel personally. Itís a little thinner, but the nice dry finish was very welcome.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Chicago. Aroma is super spicy, and pours pretty foamy. I really get the Sichuan ppcs, also the pink ppcs and the ginger. A nice spiced Saison.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, lots of carbonation out of the bottle but not a gush, hazy orange pour with big fluffy white head, aroma brought notes of big peppercorn, coriander, ginger, spicy yeast, some orange peel, lemon, hints of nice floral and bready notes as well, pretty nice and as advertised. Taste is lots of pepper, nice peppercorn, coriander, some nice ginger, lemon, touch of earth, sweet orange, grapefruit notes mix into some biscuity and bready malts, slight white fruit in there as well finishing fairly sweet, peppery and dry. Tasty, though a bit over peppery, it is well made.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle. Dark orange pour with big bright white head. Aroma is dominated by red pepper. Mild ginger and citrus notes. There is some earthiness. Flavor is spicy, strong pepper component. A bit of heat towards the back of the throat. The ginger and orange peel become more apparent after a while. This is not very subtle, but for someone who likes pepper in their beer this is quite nice. Medium bodied, crisp carbonation. Finishes with strong peppercorns.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Binnyís. Pours a nice, hazy apricot color with decent initial head but so-so retention (could be the glass), some lacing. Nose is spicy yeast and peppercorns. Mouth is peppery in the front, with spicy, almost curry notes. Some alcohol heat comes through. Most of this beerís palate is up front, with a quick finish. Iíll concur with whomever said it was tastier than the Rose Poivre.
